Just saw another ESPN Article on Harper & Machado not being signed. This time it is Longoria & Bryant who are irked that those two have not been signed. Each were "courted" and probably heard offers that they have not zoned in on and gotten finite detail. That is their problem. And if teams do not want to pay out the huge salaries or long service times that is a teams right.
Hot rumor that the Yankees are very much interested in Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado when he becomes free agent next year. So, what about Miguel Andujar? This kid is being put under the microscope by this Yankee organization and all for the wrong reasons. Andujar at this stage of his career has proven is a worthy candidate to be the Yankee 3B. The Yankee obsession to move him is totally ridiculous.
Arenado is a damn good 3rd sacker, arguably the games best however Andujar has talent equal to the forthcoming task, a lower pay rate, and the Yankee Fans like him. I heard Mike Lowell praise Andujars work ethic that will end up in better "D". Many Yankee Fans will agree with that. Judge is best all around cowboy in the Yankee rodeo but Andujar is my favorite player. I once heard Cashman say Andujar would not be traded because he (Cshman) had to walk around NYC. He'd best retain that thought.
Maybe we give Andujar some time at 1st this year and see how he plays there and if he looks good....well then I’m sure you know where this is headed lol. Honestly though, we need a catcher. It’s going to be scary watching Sanchez back there trying to catch this bullpen unless he spent this entire offseason working on blocking pitches in the dirt and his body position and actually trying to get in front of the ball and not trying to backhand pitches anymore.
Saw this article on River Avenue Blues a while back: The idea was to move Andujar to First if the Yankees acquired Machado. Looks like that won't happen so let that kid boogie woogie. Too bad the Yankees can't trade Sanchez for Realmuto straight up to solve that problemFirst Base is a concern, Bird has had plenty of opportunity since '15 and sporadic since joining the team. Voit as flash in the pan, only time will tell.
Without doubt the worst performance I have ever seen in a long lifetime, by a catcher bulshit award goes to Gary Sanchez. Four passed balls in one single inning. Four, count them, four. Not even a knuckleballer on the mound that day. A lot rides on Sanchez this year no doubt. (Scream....) Could be a painful long year, or a self redeeming make-or-break it year behind a plate... Bet's, calling all bets I don't know which way to handicap this one...
If Sanchez pulls the non hustle moves behind the plate & down the first base line, I’d say “sayonara”........no matter what Bonehead & Trashman say!
Cashman could curry much favor from Yankee Fans if he got Sanchez and Stanton traded for decent replacements.
The Yankees are receiving 2B Shed Long, LHP Reiver SanMartin and a 2019 Competitive Balance Pick in the Sonny Gray Trade.
The @Yankees announced today that they have acquired OF Josh Stowers from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for 2B Shed Long.
Danny Farquhar has signed a Minor League Deal with The Yankees he has recovered from a life threatening Brain Hemorrhage suffered early last Season while on The White Sox as per Jon Heyman.
Our old buddy Smiling Sonny Gray is now a member of the Cincinatti Ball Club. As Roy Clark once sang "thank God & Greyhound you're gone. The Reds extended Grays contract out to three years plus. Risky move by the Reds, if Gray doesn't get it together he could be in big trouble, I've heard their Park is a band box.
^^^^^Gray has the Yankee stigma off his back....I expect him to do well in the small market. I would not be surprised. Yankees & their historic tradition was too much for him. I still think Trashman got more than the guy was worth. I would have settled for two beers and a pizza!
