Yes, it is. Too bad Lowry's career PER isn't anywhere near 19. It's 15.9, slightly above average. His career high is 18.9. The only other time he's been above 16.5 was his rookie year when he had a PER - 18.3, but only played in 10 games. Lowry is OK, but not great. I'd take him if the price was right. The #6 pick is way too much to give up a guy who is marginally better than Raymond Felton. BNM
I also wouldn't give up the #6 for Lowry and one (or two) picks in the mid teens - even in this very deep draft. It's not that I think those picks are worthless. In fact, I'd really like to have one, or both of them, but not at the cost of the #6 pick. In this draft, I think there is a VERY good chance of getting a real difference maker, a multi-time all-star, at #6. Lowry, #14 and #16 most likely nets you three solid role players, but not likely any difference makers. I suppose that's good if you already have two (or more) difference makers and are looking to round out your roster, but it's easy to add role players, even proven veteran role players, through other methods - without giving up a potential difference maker. Difference makers (a number one or two option) are much harder to come by. If Kyle Lowry is your second best player (number 2 option), you're not going anywhere, and probably not making the play offs (or squeaking in and getting swept in the first round). Unless you have another trade lined up (perhaps #6 plus #14) to move up and guarantee getting the player you want), I wouldn't trade the #6 pick in this draft for Kyle Lowry and two mid first round picks. I'm having a hard time making a polite response. Before being hospitalized with an extreme bacterial infection, Lowry was flat kicking ass...there is no other way to spin it without being wrong. 38 games is a solid sample size and his 20+PER was a reflection of his All Star level stats. 35.4 Min, 15.9 pnts. on 42%, 1.9 3's made per game at 39%, 4.5 FTM at 87%, 7.2 Assts, 1.8 Stls, 5.3 RBs Being bedridden and unable to eat solid food for weeks would be tough on anyone. Kyle lost a lot of weight and of course a good portion of his stamina. In his absence Dragic came on and dominated. Pointing out that Lowry didn't finish the year as a starter for the Rockets as if you were onto something is either oblivious to well known circumstances or idiotic. Being literally a shadow of himself, it's no surprise that his stats tailed off dramatically when he returned STOMP
I'm surprised at how little people think of Lowry. He had some serious mention as an All Star last year. I think a more understandable argument would be that he has taken a while to blossom. Is he a late bloomer or was it just a good year and he will regress to the mean? But no one in their right mind could not be impressed with what he did last year when healthy.
I'm sure GD has nothing but positive things to say publicly about potentially returning to Houston. The more teams interested in him the higher his $ value goes. Not much talent there to win with though STOMP

Just like Raymond Felton the year before. Yes, Lowry is an upgrade over our current PG situation. Most posters here (me NOT included) said the same thing about Felton last June. After years of average play, Lowry played like a "near all star" for 38 games. Felton did the same thing (17.1ppg, 9.0 apg, 3.6 rpg) for 54 games in NY before being traded. Both players faded late in the season - Lowry due to illness, Felton due to the trade/diminished roll. 38 games of "near all star" performance isn't enough to even consider giving up the 6th pick in this draft. Will Lowry continue to produce at a "near all star" level, or will he regress to mediocrity? Who knows. I'm not willing to risk the 6th pick to find out. BNM
