I wouldn't. He has a body of work that teams are going to look at over 20 games with a shit coach and a dysfunctional team. He's going to get his money either way.
What I like about Powell is he pushes the ball up the court not letting the defense set. Dame, CJ and Ant all make sure they are the last one across the half court line giving the defense a chance to get back and set up. I wish those three would take a page out of Powell's book and start pushing the pace and getting more easy baskets. Would help preventing teams from Trapping Dame.
Chances are Right on...Thats how Ja beat us at home twice too he pushed the ball. I noticed last game that Powell and CJ both pushed the ball up court.
Stotts hasn't had long enough to reverse Powell's previously coach-learned BBIQ. That's one reason I always preferred trades, and criticized Let It Bake GMs. Inserting new blood is like hiring the new player's previous coaches onto the staff. It takes time for our bad coach to reverse the player's good habits.
Has Powell contributed to our improved defense? “More and more I’ve gotten comfortable in talking to the guys on what I see defensively throughout the game. Telling the guys to pull over or be in the gaps, and different ways we can help with rotations and things like that,” Powell said. “I think guys have an open ear..." “We went through a little stretch losing four or five games in a row, but every team has to go through that at some point in the season to really find yourself,” Powell said. “I think after that, we’ve been able to put together multiple games of high-level basketball, top to bottom offensively, defensively, playing together, communicating, helping one another and staying with it through he ebbs and flows of the game, going through tough stretches.” https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest...-drive-can-help-fuel-blazers-championship-run
No he playing out of position but due to his reach he can play it but his best position would the 2 guard.
Actually Powell defense rating been better here then Toronto. But if another team offer him 20 million then I would let him go. To me not worth not much he getting now I wouldn't go over 15 million with him.
Money always talks the loudest in free agency, and Portland has the ability to top any offer, which I expect them to. They will be in the tax either way, so it wouldn’t make sense not to, and if Quicks reporting is to be believed, ownership isn’t looking to really dump money this offseason either. They can always make a trade later if they decide the three guard lineup isn’t sustainable long term. But right now it looks pretty good, especially when they all play off of Nurk.
Does Powell make CJ expendable during off season? He might be better fit next to Dame and trading CJ could bring back nice piece/pieces for one final run with Dame
