I'm gonna drive down to California and buy some. We were in Mexico.

If I win I'm gonna buy the internet and ban you all.

The winner can buy an NBA franchise. The Warriors sold for $450M in 2010, the Bucks for $550M in 2014.

    No you can't.

If you take the cash lump sum you will get $540,000,000 after local, state, and federal taxes in Oregon and $604,000,000 in Cal. (You have to pay Cal taxes at the end of the year so you'll end up with pretty much the same as you would in Oregon.)

The NBA does provide up to $100,000,000 in financing.

Even if you have enough money you wouldn't have enough in reserve. The NBA does have minimum net worth requirements to buy a franchise.

You could buy a NBDL team or a AAA baseball franchise.

You don't have to take the lump sum to buy a team. Take the yearly/whatever payout and use it to pay the purchase loan payments.

The NBA would not approve the sale.

Sure they would. The loan isn't secured by the franchise, it's secured by the lottery payments. Full faith and credit of the government.

    LOL!

    No.

Even if you could get a loan you would not have enough money to operate the team. The NBA is not going to approve a lottery winner. You could be part of an ownership group.

Here is the annuity break down for California. $15mill is not going to cover loan payments and operating costs.

You confuse capital expense and operating expense.

If that is the yearly payoff, it wouldn't cover the loan payment in year 1. If the loan is structured to match the annuity, then not a problem. Your own link says the annuity payouts add up to $975M, more than enough.

The pelicans could likely be bought for cash if you took the lump sum.

You might be able to afford an NHL team, too.

For the rest of you it'll be like The Godfather, you'll have to ask nicely. Calling me a dick doesn't start you off on the right foot.

The first thing I'm gonna do is open a gas station across the street from the ripoff price gouging gas station I bought the tickets from.

They are the only one on that stretch of freeway and were charging 4.50 or so for gas.

I'll open a station and sell slightly below cost. Bwaaaaa haaaa haaaaaa!!!!!

Luckily my coworkers didn't win. Now I'm in the pool with them and we have our own tickets. I won't win as much in the pool so I'll have to make my promise to dviss1 a hundred grand if I win with the office pool. Still a cool million after taxes if I win the whole thing myself.

I think a more lucrative business right now would be robbing the gas stations selling these tickets. I saw people getting in line with envelopes full of cash.
