I like McNeeley. If Liam McNeeley spent all last season on Duke, next to Flagg, (like he did in HS/prep school) would he be ranked higher, like Kneuppel? I say yes. Stick Kneuppel on an average UConn team, with little help, and where is Kon K slated to go in the draft?
I just can't figure out why the mocks have him so low. Not saying he does not have flaws, but so do the others projected above him. Maybe they are thinking he is too old. He will be 21 in July. I like CMB as well, but Fleming has to have the edge based on his ability to knock down an open 3.
yeah. when I read his scouting report and measurements, then saw where he was ranked by consensus there did seem to be a significant disconnect. Now, as I have said many times before, I'm lousy at projecting college players into the NBA, so I usually don't try. I just saw the workout scheduled and decided to post a little 'info' and Fleming's apparent shooting ability from distance is appealing. We're seeing, year after year, in both regular season and especially in the playoffs, it's important for the supporting cast on a team to shoot the three-ball well while also being defensively competent & versatile. '3&D' may have never been more important than it is now, at least for supporting players that's why Fleming seemed to fit, but maybe, probably, I'm missing something critical about him I do know I don't want the Blazers to draft a 6' SG
The MVP was the #11 pick years ago. Fleming has no shot creation ability. Do the Blazers want to swing for a role player or a star player, even if the likelihood they become a star is less? That's the question.
That is a valid question. But the bigger question is, who at 11 has star potential? It would need to be someone young and still raw who has yet to develop. Maybe Carter Bryant?
Bryant's usage in college scares the shit out of me ala Zach Collins. But he could have also been hidden so who really knows. Egor can create. Coward is interesting. Queen can do things other centers can't. Obviously if Kasparas or Kon are there that would be interesting as well.
good question, and I'm usually in favor of swinging for the fences, especially with draft picks. But swinging for the fences has not been a Blazer thing lately. Maybe not since Chad Buchannen was interim GM like Pinwheel I'm wondering who would be a 'swing-for-the-fences' pick at 11?
Maxey is probably the closest of the current guys. Both super flexible / crazy contortionist type athletes with uncanny touch at the rim. Maxey was more physically impressive at same age from a speed+strength perspective, but I like Jase's feel and defense more. The jumper is in a better spot too compared to freshman Maxey plus more developed footwork and pick ups as a pull up/stepback shooter. Tyrese has developed defensively and as a shooter to a pretty high degree which is why he's the level of player he is now and I think you worry that Jase doesn't have the physical tools to scale up into that type of offensive role, but I think Jase can reach a similar outcome in his own way.
Essengue won’t get passed Brooklyn or Toronto - especially the Raptors. His upside is there but man, his jumper would scare me from drafting him. If his outside shot doesn’t improve, his ceiling is probably an Aminu-level wing.
