It's lonely here on Collins Island. But I'm ok with that. I think Stotts is going to see that he's probably our best defensive option at 4, and he's a better shooter and passer than Aminu. On the Blazers the PF position is all about being a complimentary player--filling in for teammate holes. Those holes are mainly help defense and spot up shooting, and keeping the ball moving to one of our big 3. That's Collins' game. He's just a perfect fit for what we need. Everybody is getting hung up on a short and forgettable Summer League, when Stotts is going to make his roster decisions based on what works in practice alongside Dame/CJ/Nurk.
People are getting too high on certain players. Which is fine this is a blazer fan board. But some of you are in for a sad awakening when you realize what exactly Collins will be doing his rookie season. I just hope those of you with such lofty expectations don't come on here and start whining & complaining about how 'NO screwed up by drafting another Meyers Leonard'.
Just look a the voting. There isn't "some of you." There's just me. It took me 5 seasons of failure for me to finally give up on Meyers, so yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about me whining about drafting Collins if he isn't starting in Game 1. I will say over the years there have been a few guys I was absolutely sure should be getting far more minutes than they got, and I did complain as the season went along. Bonzi and Z-bo stick in my mind the most, but I was also pretty sure Outlaw would be great so I'm not perfect.
You're not the only one on this forum who thinks Collins will the majority of his minutes at the 4. However these people only think this way because Nurk is in uni and hopefully has the 5 on lock.
Maybe do it by who the opposition is. If the opponent starts a spread 4 then go with Aminu. If not.....give Swanigan a shot. Assuming he earns it in camp. (and Vonleh is still hurt) But I also like the idea of starting ET at SF. Remember he has a longer standing reach than Harkless. So it's not like he is too short. This would allow Moe to start at PF. Again depending on who the opponent is. Then bring Morrow off the bench at SG.
I think Moe is strictly a SF - I don't like him at PF at all. Meyers should only play C and Moe should only play SF.
Yep. You and @BlazerCaravan and @KingSpeed and @UKRAINEFAN and @BlazerBeav and @PHXBlazer1 and @Schilly and @EL PRESIDENTE and @BigGameDamian and @RipCityDSCPL and @honkicracker and @SIeepwalker and @AFully22 and @Propagandist. Hah--I sucked all y'all in!
I agree on Meyers, but I think the days of strictly playing one position for SG, SF, and PF is changing when you have to match up against position-less lineups. I also prefer ET at SF on offense, but against some teams we need him to guard SG's (I.e against GS) And I agree that Harkless is mostly a SF, but again , against some teams I can see him effective as a PF. The Warriors often use Durant as a PF and right now only Aminu can guard him for Portland. If we can get away with using Harkless at PF I say we take advantage whenever possible.
A lot of people are already writing Collins off but his defense very well may get him on the court before Swanigan.
