This one's also old, but ... http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-1091-kevin_pritchard_fired_right_before_nba_draft.html PRITCH-SLAPPED WITH A PINK SLIP! Not that this was entirely unexpected, but someone is really going to have to explain the timing of Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard to me. Hell, someone is going to have to explain the decision to me, too (until then I'm going to chalk it up to Paul Allen really feeling the whole "Mo Money Mo Problems" thing) I know if I got fired for some bullshit, I'd go out kicking and screaming...or drafting really terrible players, perhaps.
Colorful language is fine in the threads. Any writeup while part of the writing team should not have any. If a seat on press row happens we'll be on double secret probation.
I don't suggest we use colorful language in the articles, either. I already said so. I was just pointing out that the pros sometimes do and the world doesn't end, the Blazers don't end their associations, etc.
Yeah, every once in a while I can pull out a Bill Simmons accent in my writing, but there's a decent difference between colloquial, just-between-us-fans column-worthy banter and semi-pro "article" stuff. You wouldn't see Hollinger, for instance, talk about how someone's shooting a muthafuckin' sweet 52% on corner 3s. Now, saying that 'Melo is a damn ballhog would be fine. Edit: Never mind, what Sly said
Part of the role of a writing team is to have people to review articles before we post them live or submit to nba.com, etc.
I'll do it. I'm on the East Coast for the most part. Can I do a game out here? I'm already doing Philly and Boston with friends. I would do Brooklyn, NY, Toronto, Cleveland probably. You know I like to travel further sometime.
We can ask for press passes for road games. Obviously writers that cover the teams travel with them and get passes for away games.
Actually, we were kinda hoping you'd do all the road games. Denny will spring for the Amtrak pass, and I'll get you one of these:
Actually... This isn't a bad idea... KingSpeed can be our weapon against the opposition. We can advise him to make the opposing players as uncomfortable as possible and have them mentally psyched out.
Nice. Geez that was fun last year. Mags paying for my 24 hour train trip to Milwaukee. Good times. Thank God we won that game! Hahahaha
Wait a sec...... No props for The HCP on getting you into said Bucks game! #Damn Sent from my Baller-Ass 5.5" iPhone 6+......... FAMS
2 things...... A) Denny, I see you're on that Yosemite tip. .....and C) Screw you Sly for not mentioning ME as one of the reasons this site has at least an ounce of credibility! How many Emmy Award Winners are runnin things over on another forum!!?? Sent from my Baller-Ass 5.5" iPhone 6+......... FAMS
What unique angle would one have being at the Moda Center live versus watching the game on TV and having observations. That's probably the first question asked. And in terms of driving traffic, what would be the unique difference of a live forum member versus someone behind their computer. In actual utilization, it just seems like a way for someone to get a free seat and having a good time than actually contributing value that would be valuable. Unless you can get some kind of real blog going then not sure how it'll work out.
Hey, I live in the land of the "press pass" and know how to sneak in. These are just what they're going to ask.
As I read this thread I originally had a couple ideas. 1) If I could find a way to the games in Utah I would be all over representing for S2 and 2) it might be cool to have someone research the opponents message boards, beat writer articles, etc to get the other point of view before and after the game. In addition watching the opponents broadcast on league pass and seeing how the game is called.
