Pretty serious implications levied against NBA in regards to Jeremy Lin

    If you don't think Jeremy Lin travel on that play, you've never called travel on anyone. Point Blank you may not take two steps and then put the ball on the floor. He clearly took two steps before dribbling and that's an automatic travel.

    As he receives the ball, his left foot is down and his right foot is already in the air.

    When he releases the ball to dribble, his right foot is down and his left foot is in the air. (screen cap shows ball almost on the floor and left foot hasn't hit floor yet).

    How is that two steps before he dribbles?

    Look at your pictures and tell me that's how that's humanly possible. How he can have the same feet in the same position on two different spots on the floor. You have to take two steps to get from picture 1 - picture 2.

    Are you saying he didn't move his right foot to get to picture number 2? Yeah you show me any person that can do that. He took two steps and put the ball on the floor. After establishing your pivot foot you may not lift it to dribble. He established his pivot foot when he received the ball and his left foot was down. You may not lift that foot to dribble. You can lift it, however, you may only lift to shoot or pass.

    Pic 1 shows the placement of his left foot about 2 feet behind the arc, while his right foot is in the air.
    Pic 2 shows that with ONE step, he placed his right foot about 2 feet past the three point arc.
    He releases his dribble before he completes a second step--before his left foot hits the floor again.

    So, the problem is not that he "takes two steps" as you stated before, but that he lifts his left foot before he dribbles. Those are two completely different statements.

    This is key. When you take possession of the ball, whichever foot is down is your pivot foot. If both are down at the same time, you can choose whichever foot to be your pivot foot. But since his left foot is down that's the one that may not be lifted unless he wants to shoot or pass directly afterward.

    Establishing your pivot foot counts as one step. He did take two steps.

    No wonder you say it's impossible for us laymen to interpret the rule book. We've already taken a step the moment we touch the ball? That's silly. But, them's the rules, I guess.
