    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting notMuchgame:</div><div class="quote_post">well, Kobe did avg 40+ for a 10 game span...[IMG]

Like I said in the other thread, I've always thought T-mac was the better <u>offensive</u> player from quarters 1-thru-3...but Kobe is the far superior player in the 4th....</div>

    exactly, 40 poitns through 10, 35 though 13. 56 in 3 quarters.

Not true, not only does kobe average a better field goal percentage then tmac, but considering kobe is hurt and playing in a team with a bunch of all stars, 22 points, 5 boards and dimes sounds GREAT to me...for a depleted superstar.

So stating that tmac is a better offensive player during quarters 1-3 shooting 41% is better then kobe shooting 44 makes no sense.

T-Mac doesn't have 3 all stars playing around him. Therefore teams can focus in on him with double teams and what not. Teams are forced to play Kobe man up.

man up? dude you dont want enough laker games, as a los angeles resident, i dont miss a game, and rarely do you play kobe man up, RARELY, seriously, how could u assume such a thing considering kobe and shaq are STILLLL the only players in the lakers averaging more then 20 points, it hasnt changed from last season, malone and payton are beneficieries, but that doesnt stop teams from doubling kobe...

plus, kobe was 50% today man, his right arm was gone, and he still produced, so i could counter your argument with such a statement.

Let's get into another Kobe vs. T-Mac debate. The Lakers were lucky to fight back and win this game, but I'm glad they did. Also thanks to the Warriors, we have moved into the 3rd seed and I would like to see the Lakers remain there. I'd much rather face the Grizzlies than the Spurs or Mavs in round one.

They didn't have to play him man up tonight with the way the other players were playing. Tracy's supporting cast completely outplayed Kobe's supporting cast tonight. In an overall season base no doubt Kobe does have the better team, without a question.. but tonight that was not the case. Again, we should have had this game tonight early on and it shouldn't have come down to it, but it ended up a great game. Kobe did outplay T-Mac tonight IMO, but you can't compare players just because of one game, if you can compare them at all. They are different players, and althought I think Kobe is the better one I know some feel T-Mac is, and everyone got their right to their own opinion. I do think this was a statement game on the defensive end though, that should be consistent every night and and there are no "off" nights defensively. Kobe did definitely make a huge statement on that part of the game.

kobe has that killer instinct that only a great few have ever had, tmac just stands around and laughs during the 4th and OT considering they just blew a 20 point lead, what kind of heart and leadership is that?

I'd have to completely agree on that one, T-Mac doesn't have the competetiveness the other great players have. He doesn't like to take charge and take over the game when they need him most. Ever since I joined this board I've read posts about T-Mac being a better defender than Kobe, well its time for him to step up to the plate and prove it. IMO Kobe is the much better defender.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">LOS ANGELES (AP) -- After coming up with one of the NBA's most notable offensive performances of the season, Kobe Bryant preferred to talk about his defensive effort.

Bryant scored 26 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, and put the clamps on Tracy McGrady during that time as the Los Angeles Lakers rallied to beat the Orlando Magic 113-110 Monday night.

Shaquille O'Neal had 27 points and a season-high 23 rebounds for the Lakers, who overcame a 19-point deficit late in the third period thanks mainly to Bryant, who scored all but one of his points after halftime.

McGrady, the NBA's leading scorer, had 37 points to give him 139 in the last three games. But he scored only five in the fourth quarter and overtime, when he was guarded by Bryant.

"I think of myself as a throwback -- not only can I score the basketball, I can keep people from scoring," Bryant said. "It was very fun. I love those matchups."</div>

^^ lol I don't remember hearing that in the interview for some reason.. I really don't get excited or really like it when he makes those comments, but hey atleast we won't see McGrady until next season so I guess we won't have to worry about him coming out to prove himself anytime soon?

I really should be happy and relieved by every Laker win we get, but I'm not. Instead, I'm pretty disgusted by this win. Before I go off into a tirade, I must give props to Kobe Bryant and his offensive explosion late in the 3rd quarter and especially the entire 4th quarter in which he scored 24 points. He found his stroke, he knocked down huge baskets to keep the Lakers in the game, and he just found his stroke, and nobody was gonna stop him, not even Tracy McGrady. Shaquille O'Neal another fanstastic game. Can anybody say vintage Shaq? 27 points and 23 rebounds. Now, if SHaq can play like this every night, we wouldn't have to win in nailbiter games.

Now, the Lakers really had to fight to get this win, and I mean fight. You have to grind it out against a 19-50 Orlando Magic team that's fighting for a #1 lottery pick? This game should never have gone into overtime, with the clear advantages the Lakers had over the Magic, they should've blown this team right out of the building. The Lakers at one time trailed by 19 points? I mean c'mon. This team clearly isn't playing well, and it's showing in our last games against Chicago, (when Kobe had to score 12 straight buckets to bail us out) and a loss against a struggling Minnesota club. Thanks to the Warriors, the Lakers have sole possession of the 3rd seed in the Western Conference, but this is the time when they really have to buckle down and get down to business and get the highest seed possible. No excuses, we just need 48 minutes of Laker dominance and it starts now.

Im sick of this...We should be blowing these teams out, but yet we play down to their level, and the Lakers think they can turn it up come playoff time, they need to turn it up now, Kobe was spectacular taking over this game, and Payton hit the huge three in OT..I think L.A. needs to start playing with their A game every game, not their C game when the Magic are in town, we should of win this game by 10+, but yet we let it go into OT.
