I can't wait for this game. Liverpool and Manchester United will be the two English clubs fully licensed in the game. This will also mark the last season that EA Sports has sole license of the Premiership for their FIFA titles. Full league licensing for Ligue 1, Serie A, Eredivisie and la Liga are present. Also, several other clubs from other leagues will be licensed such as Benfica, Club Brugge, Spartak Moscow, etc. PS3 Eye Toy use to implement faces will be brought back again as well. This helps since no gaming company has been able to implement as many faces as they would actually like. Most notably the Russian players, which some authentic player faces are needed to make it an even better playing experience.

No word yet on any new licensing for National Teams, but I'm hoping for at least a good handful of these teams - Austria, Belgium, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, Israel, Northern Ireland, Mexico, Nigeria, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Tunisia, Ukraine, United States and Uruguay.

I'm hoping for the Israeli league this season, but since no Israeli teams made any real noise in Europe last season, there's probably a very slim chance of that happening.

I'd honestly say there is no chance of it happening. There is a good chance one or two clubs may make it into the World Clubs section of the game though. Konami are known for adding smaller clubs without the entire league they belong to.

Always liked the PES series. But as mentioned in the article PES 2008 was shocking. That was the first year i went over to the much better fifa.

Hopefully PES can claw it back. But no doubt i'll end up buying both.

I usually end up buying both, but the lack of customization and polished product from FIFA always seems to disappoint me. Plus the running on rails thing, I just can't get over it. PES should do better this time I bet. I honestly think the problems with 2008 were mostly in the online play, though not much of an issue for me personally, and the slag in replays combined with poor lighting. Although FIFA hasn't been any better for lighting to be honest. Everything was so dark in '08!

    Update!

Good deal for you Liverpool fans.

Also, let it be known that UEFA now sponsors the games.

I tried the fifa 09 demo and it was not so good... I might have to go back to PES this year.

I liked the fifa 09 demo, but to be honest I usually pick Fifa because they have more licensing and more things to do. From more teams to more compeitions, and that loading interactive screen is just imense from fifa 08.

Yeah, I buy FIFA just because of the Arena mode. I have never bought a PES.

PES is for real footballers who like tactics and every single aspect of the game to be realistic... In the other hand Fifa is more of an arcade game and can keep you entertained for a bit. That's just my opinion of course.

I only liked FIFA's introduction of Manager mode, but since it has been included it hasn't changed the slightest bit. Same questions and outcomes. Way too simple to go through. New player names are really bad. I mean almost every new player created by the COM as you go through several seasons has a Hispanic name, even if they're from the Czech Republic, YET - Players from Spain end up having Korean names. How stupid. I avoid signing good players just because of their names. FIFA player movement is fake and so is the ball trajectory.

Good news is that four Russian clubs will now be playable in PES 2009 - CSKA Moscow, Lokomotiv Moscow, Spartak Moscow and Zenit Saint Petersburg. CSKA and Zenit are the new additions.

No word on a demo release yet.

For sure, but I wish they would've went ahead and added Rubin Kazan and Dynamo Moscow as well.

Good news though Max, I believe FIFA's exclusive license for the Premier League ends after this season.
