This was so great... and so subtle... and completely under appreciated.

In less than 3 months I'm heading out on my Great American Road Trip. I'm planning to stay off the interstates as much as possible. I have a strong feeling this is going to be a very enlightening, if not precarious adventure. Hopefully, sharing a beer with folks after a day on the road will be the bridge to understanding despite maybe not agreeing.......

watch the movie Nebraska before you take off....it'll prepare you!! I would love to do that.....I've done my last two trips by train ...really enjoyed them. Sounds like a good journey! I think the best of America is off the beaten path away from the chaos anyway..

Heck, you could have about the same experience at a board get-together and save on the gas. Well unless Wookie comes.

You should visit Riverman for some banjo lessons.

People are mad, and emotional, and they feel helpless, so they're taking out their anger in whatever way they can. Either it's by posting a million threads on a message board, or marching in the streets. And when they encounter someone that represents everything that they're angry about, they focus that rage towards the closest target and it just happened to be these fellows. Does it make it okay? Nope. Does it make them hypocrites? Yes. They're supposedly protesting against hate, and discrimination, and yet they're resorting to violence. Obviously that's not all of them, but I feel as things progressively get worse, we're going to see more violence and more anger and more retribution.

Someone needs to step the fuck up and focus these people.

If you don't like Trump, focus on instilling enough fear in the sitting Congress and Senate that if they don't wrangle him, they will lose their seats. That's your only recourse. Lean on the people who have the power to stop him, because protesting in the streets accomplishes nothing. Literally nothing. All you're doing is costing our local government millions of dollars that we can't afford to spend. It's a short game tactic that offers no actual solutions to the problem. Think bigger. What would Frank Underwood do? He'd destroy this mother fucker from the inside.

Sharing a beer w/someone goes quite far in understanding another persons point of view, from both sides. I agree with this 10000%.

If nothing else, at least the younger generation "woke up" from their political apathy. Obviously the Democrats (and I think Republicans too or DJT would've never risen to the top of the ticket) need new blood. Maybe this will inspire future leaders to commit to running for office. All these Baby Boomers in power are going to retire and there will be a huge opportunity for these Millenials to step up and shape their future.

I see you are having a better day. Good! I will be heading out on MarAzul in 2 months or so, down to San Francisco and the Delta for a while. Swing by, I'll buy you a beer, and chat a bit, but those that agree with me are few. If not, have a good run.:cool2:

You are right! I do hope they read the Constitution a couple times though, before the shaping begins.

Actually, you might honestly be surprised by how much we agree on. It's the "ways and means" thing we don't see eye to eye on......
