Both of those guys were more scorers though, weren't they? I recall that Don MacLean compared Ball to Kendall Marshall, and I'm curious to see how valid that comparison is. Of course, Ball's J--though fugly--is leaps and bounds better than Marshall's was, so that gives him a major leg up.
Honestly, I'm not sure we can say whether Ball's shot is better or worse than anyone else's because the one he has now is essentially useless for the NBA. He shoots it almost from his hip, it's going to get blocked by anyone within arm's length. He's going to have to learn a completely new shot and it's anyone's guess how successful that shot will be.
