They didn't blame Romney for today. Romney came out twice and misstated the facts and made a ridiculous accusation against the administration. Many prominent republicans did the double face palm and publicly said he was wrong.

When you read this link, note that the embassy made their public statement BEFORE the crowd assaulted the compound.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-13/romney-criticized-for-handling-of-libya-protests-death.html

In a Jacksonville, Florida, news conference yesterday, Romney said the Obama administration set a “terrible course” when the U.S. embassy in Cairo issued a statement the Republican nominee called “akin to apology” for Egyptian protesters before the death of U.S. envoy to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya.

Romney’s comments came just hours after his campaign issued a separate statement late on Sept. 11 -- near the close of the 11th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on U.S. soil -- that the Obama administration’s “first response” had been to “sympathize with those who waged the attacks,” calling it “disgraceful.”

As protesters gathered outside, the embassy initially posted a message Sept. 11 on the social networking site Twitter saying, “Respect for religious beliefs is a cornerstone of American democracy.” About an hour later, it released a statement saying it condemned “the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims -- as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions.”

“It’s a terrible course for America to stand in apology for our values,” Romney told reporters at the Jacksonville news conference yesterday where supporters, who’d gathered for a previously scheduled event, looked on through windows. “Instead, when our grounds are being attacked and being breached, the first response of the United States must be outrage at the breach of the sovereignty of our nation.”

This thread has an even bigger disconnect from reality than the 9-11 truther thread.

    I'm in awe.

“And obviously [our] hearts are broken for the families but I wanted to encourage those folks at the State Dept. that they were making a difference,” Obama told volunteer leaders in Las Vegas, according to the pool report. “The sacrifices that our troops and our diplomats make are obviously very different from the challenges that we face here domestically but like them, you guys are Americans who sense that we can do better than we’re doing….I’m just really proud of you.”

    - Barack Obama to volunteers in Vegas 9/12/12

Odd how he says "like" in comparison to the troops overseas.

It's all about Barry. He's toast.

Did the entire removal of Mubarak by Obama escape you? You do realize that hundreds of Coptic Christians have been slaughtered in Egypt since Mubarak was removed, right?

Yes. It also escaped the media, because it never happened.

Why do you keep spouting this line? Do you honestly believe the US government was behind the "Arab Spring" movement, or are you just being a douche?

    Amazing ain't it.

If Obama is such a bad president, why do people have to make up reasons to hate him?

Denny Crane, I repped you because you spoke truth - no one blamed Romney for the attack! Anyone who actually watched MSNBC, which clearly PapaG did not, would know that. I mean, is it THAT hard to get facts before spouting off? Is this intelligence in a poster or a presidential candidate?

It seems making shit up is not just something Romney does. Karl Rove spoke disparagingly about "reality based community". He's clearly not the only one who feels that way.

A question, how did Papa G et al react, how would they have reacted, if, say, Al Gore when we first heard about 9/11, before any facts were available, held a press conference calling Bush a disgrace and saying he sided with the attackers? Of course, Gore did not do that as 1) it wasn't true 2) he had brains enough to realize that 3) he had grace enough to know, like most Republicans!, that when the country gets attacked directly or indirectly through embassies you stand together. Oh, but, they will say, Obama really DID side with the attackers - Rush Limbaugh said so! And MSNBC said the attack was Obama's fault - Glenn Beck said so! It was on pajamas media! It's true!

When you have people who normally agree with your side of the political spectrum basically saying you're full of it, maybe it's time to step down and realize that you're doing more harm to your side/reputation/character than it's worth.

And no, I'm not talking about Romney here.

Are you familiar with the saying, "All it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing"? That's how we allowed the Arab Spring: We sent the message to those people we wouldn't stand in the way of a regime change and sent the message to those governments that we wouldn't support them repressing their people to stay in power (as we had done before).

Ironically, we sent the opposite message to the brave insurgents in Iran, but who are we to question our Dear Leader? Finally, when it came to Libya, we played an active role in the overthrow of that regime.

Again, the problem comes with our foreign policy. Like a lawyer who doesn't ask a question of a witness to which he or she doesn't already know the answer, it's a cardinal rule of governments that you don't assist in the overthrow of a government without knowing exactly what will replace it.
