FP1 and FP2 in Baku are a surprise. Red Bull fastest, Ferrari still surprisingly quick, Mclaren and Alpha Tauri right behind and Mercedes struggling mightily.

In individual notes - Red Bull's 2nd driver 'Checo Perez' at the top of the timing sheet above Verstappen, The Honey Badger ahead of Norris in Mclaren. Interesting times ahead. Qualifying tomorrow will tell us a lot - but given the long straight - I would not be surprised seeing the Mclarens being able to overtake the Ferraris - even if the Ferrari's single lap advantage remains for tomorrow.

The real question is - will Mercedes recover their speed for qualifying, and even if they do not - their will their superior tire management pay dividends on race day?

F1 is a treat this year. No-one expected that qualifying session...

Baku was an awesome race. And if you did not catch it, you can watch a cliff notes version in Lego:

What a great race to close the 1/2 season before the summer vacation with a French driver winning in a French car using a French engine...

IndyCar’s new bridge to greatness will be ‘Nashville’s signature’ in the Music City GP

Asked about the risk of IndyCar racing nearly 200 mph for 1,650 feet across a bridge suspended 80 feet above the Cumberland River in Nashville, Josef Newgarden pokes fun.

“I told people we have divers in the water,” the Team Penske star said with a laugh. “I’ve said that and then just don’t say anything else, and people don’t know if you’re serious or not.”

The two-time NTT IndyCar Series champion is absolutely serious (as with any IndyCar race adjacent to a body of water, an aquatic rescue team will be on standby during the Music City Grand Prix) – just as he is absolutely sure the stakes are worth the spectacle.

The Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be the indelible image as IndyCar races through Newgarden’s hometown for the first time Sunday in one of the most highly anticipated inaugural events in recent IndyCar history.

And just like the Queen Mary anchoring Shoreline Drive in Long Beach, or The Dali Museum glistening above the Yacht Basin in St. Petersburg, Nashville’s bridge could become IndyCar’s latest iconic landmark with a perfectly framed and picturesque backdrop......

I drive for Food Delivery Apps.

These people call themselves professional drivers?
What a freaking joke... If the rest of us drove around in circles we would make no money.

Drive to Survive definitely got me hooked on F1. I record all the races now and watch them when I wake up on Sunday morning. I root for the Red Bull teams.
During this past race, I laughed at Hamilton crying about someone being too aggressive in the closing laps, yet he took out Verstappen the race before.

Indeed. But it was a great race, for sure. Great to see Alonso back in F1 - that man has "only" 2 WDC but when you realize that he never drove the best/fastest car on the grid (unlike both Seb and Lewis) - and it is clear that he is one of the greatest drivers ever. It was also great to see Ocon getting his first win.

This season is one of the most enjoyable seasons I have ever seen. An absolute must watch.

Spa Francochamps is on the calendar, after the summer break - and rain is expected...

After the Hungaroring first lap in the rain incidents....

Let's hope that Belgium will be better and we do not relive the 1998 first lap mess...

It's been so many years since there were races in Zandvoort that I forgot what a gem of a track it is.

FP2 lap with Leclerc - looks amazing, like a small version of Suzuka

Well, that last "race" was a clusterfuck of cars too big and fast for a track too narrow and poorly officiated. We still got wall to wall action and we are going into the last race of the year with the 2 protagonists equal on points for a last show-down at the OK corral type situation. This season will be remembered for years as one of the greatest.

Do not miss the Yas Marina race next weekend in Abu Dhabi.
