If you've ever designed any passive solar heating, such as a stone floor and wall behind glass, you know the darker the stone the more warmth it will gather and the more warmth it will emit when you need it.

Most of us pasty white people spend every summer trying to get a tan.

Stars shine brightest on the darkest nights.

My favorite times to be in the woods are the twilights before dusk and dawn, when lightness and darkness cross streams.

That may indeed be more truthful than you imagine.
Some taut Guns Germs and Steel that made the level of the playing field, but I expect it was the Oxford Dictionary.
It made the English language the dominate language of the Earth in one at bat. No other language had the equivalent supporting
    text.

The deep woods and the sea both give men, at least me a very similar feel, nearly spiritual. You know it when you find it.

I have a place not many step from my back door at my home in Bandon where it can be experienced. Less than the distance to the pitcher mound from the back door, step between two trees, a quarter turn left and two paces forward. Looking over a North facing slope of forest, the sounds change right there, to that place, perhaps a pileated woodpecker or just the silence of the deep woods.

Lies. Nothing but lies. That shit has been debunked... Just like that whole "Irish were slaves too" lie..

You're part of the problem. You consistently deny white privilege exists and that a system of oppression exists in this country.

Why the fuck are you even in the discussion at this point? So no worries, you're not the right person to even be talking about this.

I think it's hilarious how there are white people that never experience racism that act like they're so versed and knowledgeable about it.

    Y'all know nothing.

So you and I never need to engage in this discussion again.

I find it ridiculous that you're raging about the word black meaning bad, when the history of the black knight dates back to medieval times (well before slavery in America).

@dviss1 I find it interesting that the term "African American" is frowned upon in the black community. I always use it. I cringe when people say "black" though, and I'm not sure why. So I try and limit the usage. So to be clear, it's less offensive to use the term "Black" than to use the term "African American," generally speaking? I had no idea.

African American never should have become a thing. It assumes that all black people are A) from Africa originally and B) American.

We see this play out when American journalists interview black people from England and still call them African American.

After Epic Beard Man on youtube years ago I really hoped "pinky" would catch on. Much more accurate.

I still say "he leaking" when I see someone bleeding.

I’m not reading all this or what even lead to it... but isn’t it kinda weird that “white” people aren’t truly white and “black” people aren’t truly black?

Everyone’s a shade of tan or brown. I don’t think those words will change any time soon, but they do carry different connotations with stark differences in terms of being positive or negative.

People from Georgia are known as crackers. My mom's side of the family is all from Georgia. I was born in Georgia.
Although raised here, I don't mind being called a cracker.
My wife tried calling me honky in private but she was terribly uncomfortable with it and quit doing so after about half a day.
Now, it's honey, which translates to "Get your ass over here and take out the damn garbage, mister."
