Goal from Robinho in the 10th. Good pass to set it up from Melo I believe, but it really should have been better defended by the Dutch. No one stepped up to match Robinho's run.

What an amazing play with Robinho, Luis Fabiano and Kaka, too bad the GK got that ball.

That was terrific by Robinho in particular.

As for the whole half, I'm waiting for the Dutch to do something. I'm about to say something slightly negative about an Arsenal player, so this thread is about to take off on a tangent, just as a warning.

Robin Van Persie is useless for the Dutch right now. He simply cannot play up top by himself. Every time he's gotten the ball, he's dribbled harmlessly to the end line and then look for a pass. As the Brazilians have figured this out, they're getting numbers back to show him to the line and then take away all of his passing angles and despite this, RVP keeps doing it every time he gets the ball. It almost appears that the Brazilian defensive strategy is to give Van Persie space and show him to the end line, then deal with him. I know his club form has been down of late, but I don't know why Klaas-Jan Huntelaar isn't playing as he would handle the lone striker role much better.

Astounding. Clearly the Dutch are no slouches, but I didn't see this one coming. Dunga will get canned for this and take the blame for not bringing enough of the flashy Brazilian flair.

    Yeah.

Sad to see our team go, but they fought until the end and that's something we will praise. Congrats to Netherlands.

Not the result I was expecting.

Hopefully this sends chills up the spines of the Argentinians.

I was rooting for Brazil to advance, but congrats to the Oranje.

I simply don't understand officiating sometimes. A foul is a foul is a foul, right? I realize the game was a minute old, but the Dutch player (I think it was Van Persie) was taken down by Juan in the box. It's a foul. Outside of the box, the ref would have whistled immediately. It was not malicious, there was certainly no card due, but it was a foul, and should have been a penalty, simple as that.

First half seemed weird to me. Brazil made some plays, but to me Holland controlled the game and the tempo. And they didn't panic at halftime, and while they pulled themselves together more and more, the Brazilians did the exact opposite, punctuated by the Melo stomp, and by Robhinho just making a general ass of himself every time Robben went down.

Good win for the dutch, congrats.
