And how many times have we seen guys so focused on trying to get blocks they leave their man open for a layup, either off a pass or rebound. Not saying this is happening with Whiteside, because I don't watch the Heat much, just a general observation to support the idea that blocked shots do not necessarily mean effective defense.
Whiteside just might be the next Ruben Patterson or mature into a guy of high character....sometimes being in a healthy culture can change a guy...some of these guys will never change..I haven't seen enough of him to evaluate his game. Seems he's fallen out of favor with the coach in Miami and it makes no sense at his price tag that they would move him...if ever a team needed a big guy...it's Miami so that raises a flag for me
dude...you're talking to a guy who's never even had a cell phone..I'm about as low tech as you can get..now my son on the other hand is a master thumb twiddler but I'll give him credit...he traded his Xbox straight across for a Martin guitar..made me proud!
If you're that behind on technology.... what does that say about forums as a medium of communication???? We're all dinosaurs.
No we're all sports dorks. I mean we are a special breed to spend serious time discussing our team with complete strangers.
Whiteside has some concerns/flags, but they come with mega upside. Two other center prospects that NO tried to sign also have concerns/flags, and they didn't have near the upside. Whiteside probably has less flags than the other two dudes.
Whiteside is having a pretty good game against San Antonio on TNT. Aldridge is having a pretty good game too. Defensively, whiteside has done well. But it took him a little to get some offense (12 points at the half). Aldridge did draw 2 fouls on him. But hate aside, Aldridge is legit so I can live with that if I'm Miami. Right before the 1st half ended, spoelstra took whiteside out for another shooter. Wade turned it over. Spurs got last possession, and Aldridge had the easiest basket of the night. Should be a good 2nd half!
I don't know how good he is on defense either but I saw the end of a game a few nights ago when he had 10 blocks where the other teams PG wouldn't even go into the lane when he had the opportunity and the clock wound down and the other team took a horrible perimeter shot. So things like that don't go into stats but he was certainly effective in that case.
