Haynes on a twitter space chat:

"I don't know how you could say Olshey didn't have a big factor in wasting Dame's prime."

Very interesting to listen to him speak so candid

This is a roster issue because some guys don't care enough to do what they need to do to win. Wouldn't have figured that out without firing Stotts. Win-win.

Plenty of people knew it was a roster, not coaching issue prior to any coaching change; it was fairly obvious. This is not a caring issue, or a Billups/Stotts issue, it's a pure talent/roster construction issue.

Still don't think it's as much of a talent issue as you guys think. When this team plays bought in and focused they've had some really good defensive games, and that's the only thing holding this team back. So many of their defensive mistakes are due to a lack of effort or focus, but Chauncey's trying to get them to play the right way which is more than I could ever say for Stotts.

He doesn’t give him credit because he doesn’t deserve it. I love that more and more people are realizing this

This isn't a shot at you, but people use "effort" when they don't have anything of substance to point at. We rarely if ever point at the opponents effort as reasons for our wins, but so often blame effort for our loses. That right there should tell you it's not a valid reason.

A lot of this teams defensive problems have to do with the opposing guards blowing past our guards and everyone scrambling to try and compensate for their blown coverage which routinely leads to open 3’s which our perimeter defenders aren’t long enough to close out on.

    that's a good point and I think it's accurate

Dame-CJ-Powell-Simons. Three bad defenders & one average . All four 6'3 and under. Until Dame's 'rest', they combined for over half of all Portland minutes. Portland's defense suffers because of this. Scheme won't fix it; effort won't fix it. At best, scheme & effort would be band-aids, but band-aids wear out and fall off. This is a roster problem

Clearly Neil called Quick yesterday - suddenly he’s showing sympathy…

Woj, Dwight, and Quick keeping their source alive in case it's needed in the future.

Who cares though? If they want to fire him they can fire him... Seems pretty simple.

This is basically how I feel. Selfishly, I'd like all the information about the Billups and Olshey investigation, but at the end of the day, realize I'm owed nothing and they can hire/fire whoever they want.

I think he meant to say "deafening". not "defeating". I think he is calling out the hypocrisy of those who cried out for transparency in the Billups investigation but don't give a shit about lack of transparency in Olshey firing.

Good question. Haynes certainly did not imply any names specifically. I would guess PG13.

    I'm thinking Jimmy Butler.

I don't see KP dealing with us. One of his kids posted or liked some tweet to that affect too back then.
