It’s not one or the other. Stotts wasn’t very good and the roster isn’t very good. If we want a contender there needs to be some changes unless you’re happy with the same ol’ I’m thinking CJ might be gone-zo
Some fans like to make excuses for many bad decisions by the GM. I'm not unhappy. It just pains me we didn't take Giannis. It is what it is. CJ was a good pick. Holding onto CJ this long was not a good move.
I'm betting Neil doesn't give a shit about the second round and just lets the scouting department take over for that.
Man, who is worse? A healthy Alex Len or an empty roster spot... i mean, never-plays-but-when-he-does-he-gets-3-fouls-in-30-seconds and also always injured Zach Collins? Its len, but just barely.
neil has a 100% hit rate on every single second round pick in his tenure. doubt he gives up that responsibility to someone else
Listening to this there are some details about Zach he didn't put in the story: 1. His agent and people around the league think he will be signed ~5 million per year. Slim chance Portland is the one paying it. 2. Apparently the first two surgeries were botched by the surgeon. He feels a lot better after this 3rd surgery which was done by team USA's doctor. WTF?
Marcus Smart is exactly what we need more of on this team. Get him and Draymond. Become one of the best defenses in the league and let Dame close games.
Also "looking for a small forward". Trying to trade CJ to do it. Dunno what the team thinks Simmons is, but I don't see many small forwards (or wings) available. They are probably also scared to pull the trigger on any CJ deals without some sort of verbal commitment from Powell. Even if you get something good for CJ, if his supposed replacement goes elsewhere that kind of fucks things up.
Neil drafted Dame and gave him a starting role right from the getgo. Only other PG he signed was… Ronny Price? It was a great move to hand keys to Dame and give him full confidence.
Decision after decision I've disagreed with Neil initially but just sighed and hoped he'd turn out to be right... that there was some big picture issue(s) & upside that I just wasn't seeing. Nope! For the past few seasons I'm relegated to just waiting for him to be fired so I can start having hope again. Soapy sucks at his job. STOMP
Thank god. Seems to be the reason why he doesn’t have the tone where he’s blaming the blazers. I was starting to wonder how the relationship between the team and Collins wasn’t souring. This makes sense.
