You know, a simple solution would be to figure out a rotation where those 5 guys aren't on the floor at the same time then. Like having one of Roy, Aldridge, or Oden on the floor at ALL times. But no, instead he gives us an inferior starting unit to what we could potentially have. That's a great idea. Fuck.
Wow. Wow! I like Nate but I dont get that at all. I really hope it goes well cuz he is putting his ass on the line here.
I hope Bayless goes for 48 tonight and messes everything up! Then Nate will have to start him opening night!
+1. When I heard the starting lineup before last nights game, all I could think of was how weak the second unit was going to be. Roy also struggles with Oden in. Andre and Oden seem to work well together, as would Rudy with them (but not with Roy). This makes a lot of sense to me.
Did anyone here go to the game last night that thought that Oden's defense wasnt good? If Im not mistaken he had 3 blocks and 13 rbs. Am I missing something? Nate wants to put Przy in for better defense? WTF?
So our once a decade center doesn't work well with our star SG? And that's acceptable? As opposed to the coach figuring out a way to use them both effectively on the court? Kobe and Shaq worked pretty damn well together. Our answer is spread everyone out, so they can all get their stats? As I said earlier, the easiest solution is to not have an entire bench unit in at the same time.
The one good thing is with Greg comin off the bench, the WHOLE offense can run through him! Unlimited shot attempts! Rudy and Martell can feed off of him. Anytime Greg gets doubled we have our 2 sharpshooters set outside to take wide-open 3's. It might work.
Finally. Someone that actually pays attention to the fact that basketball games are 48 minutes long, not just the first quarter...
That unit was not very good, I agree. Rudy is the lone playmaker in that group, and his back is messed up. Blake is trying to do too much and not playing his game, and Nicolas can't be depended upon offensively yet. Travis is too hit and miss, and Joel is limited. It's just not a good mix.
Right now I am getting the same feeling in my gut as when PJ Carlesimo was the coach and thought starting Chris Dudley over Arvydas Sabonis was a good idea. On the bright side of things, we were only a coaching change away from that turning around.
