If? You know it's going to happen. It's like a bad record. The same bad spot keeps on coming around every rotation.
I think you should prepare a straight jacket for when this does indeed happen. No matter what happens for the rest of the season I am almost positive that Blake will continue to start and play big minutes. I just have that much faith in Nate's ability to insanely try the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result each time.
Quick just said Andre will move into the starting lineup to replace Blakey, and Bayless will see more minutes. There is a God!
Yep and the last time he said something like that, Rudy went out with a back injury and the lineup was never seen. I'll believe it when I see it!
Maybe Nate actually got to watch the games live on TV and gained a new insight ... or maybe the percocet pushed him over the top.
I believe it this time. I can't wait for tomorrow's game to see how it goes.. too bad it came too late though and we won't see the Miller/Roy/Webster/LA/Oden lineup that seemed obvious a few weeks ago.
It definitly gives something to get a little bit excited about. There is always a bit of speculation on how a lineup change will actually work out before it is done. It gives me something to look forward to in the next game.
I have a feeling the next 7 games aren't exactly going to be the best barometer of how successful this move can really be. The team is still decimated up front, still is woefully short of good perimeter shooting and doesn't have much margin for error. I'll chalk it up to success if three things happen: 1. Roy and Miller start to form some kind of cohesive duo (and that means more than just taking turns taking over while the other stands around out of the play) 2. Bayless keeps up his efficient production on offense and shows growth with his decision making, play-making and team defense. and 3. Steve finally relaxes and stops pressing so badly knowing that he doesn't have anybody breathing down his neck for his starting spot -- and it should help that he won't be stretched beyond his 'sweet spot' range of minutes which is probably in the 20-25 range.
Yep I am with you there. Right now the next few games my whole goal for the team is to start seeing some pieces work together. It might take a few games. It might take some players getting hot in order to get some confidence going. But that is what I am looking for. I am looking for the team energy to change from negative to positive. Then we can worry about the rest of the stuff.
Looking into my crystal ball I see the following happening: Blake is removed from the starting line-up for the next 6 games, which include about 4 games Portland will almost certainly loose. Nate will use the record the team has with Miller starting to bench Miller and reinstall Blake into the starting line-up. This way Nate gets to pretend like he gave a Miller/Roy starting back-court a try and he gets to put his guy back into the starting unit. A win-win for Nate. Everyone else looses.
