Boo-hoo, he hurt your wheetlle feelings? :sigh:

    Grow a pair.

P.S I've met Oden once, and he didn't seem "anti-social" at all. Seemed like a nice guy.

It's really sad what has become of Greg's career. Three injuries keeping him from playing. Unbelievable foul trouble. Underwhelming play. 4 pts 2 rebs vs the Thunder. Horrible. Of course, there have been glimpses of greatness (17/12/6 vs Knicks, 24/15 vs Bucks), but overall, he hasn't made much noise in the league. He was a #1 pick and he might not even make All Rookie Second Team.

I don't know how much they've misled him. Most likely they told him it could take between 1-6 weeks to heal and that when he's ready to play he'd be the first one to know it. To reevaluate it every 7-10 days sounds normal. I'm sure no one thought it would take 6 weeks, but knew it could is all.

I don't know about unbelievable foul trouble. He's a rookie big man and it was expected. Add that he was out of shape so he's reaching more I don't think it's that big of a surprise.

You will come to find that most introverts are nice guys. It's the uneven expectations that extroverts place on the introvert that often lead to this silly misunderstanding.

To me the article was refreshingly good news. Given the timeline I think there's a very good chance he'll be ready to play by the end of this month. If so, that means he'll be ready for the playoffs. I'm very disappointed in the way the Blazers have handled this. They've known for some time that he could be out at least 6 weeks and they keep listing him as "day to day". WTF is up with that???

And the reiteration that he does not need surgery was good to hear as well...

Upon reading Quick's article this morning, I want to personally apologize to Greg for in any way accusing him of lack of heart, being soft, or having misguided priorities of any kind. Clearly, this injury is far more serious than I, or probably many of us, had thought.

I'm disappointed in the Blazers, though, for essentially being coy (IMO) on the issue. It's apparent to me that, in light of the seriousness of Greg's injury, we could/should have had updates with a bit more definitive content than they were willing to provide(?). Now I'm wonder if that nasty rumor was true...that they were hiding all this to keep the season ticket holders' base intact. I wonder when that renewal date was/is? Ahh, well, it is what it is. I'm just glad that Quick finally got to the meat of the matter.

Hey, get well soon, Greg. Again, I'm sorry for my lack of belief in you, big fella.

Can I make predictions or what?

Here is the epitome of "Quickness": he's like passive-aggressiveness in print:

    Translation "yeah, right!"

Yes, damn that media, says Jason, looking around angrily to find it.

Translation: "this guy is a psychopath, people."

I really do pity Oden. He has to give interviews with worms like Quick, because otherwise he'll get the Rasheed Wallace treatment. But when he does, he gets an amateur psychoanalysis and a projection of everything Quick wanted to say in the first place. Is there any wonder Rasheed has contempt for Quick?

Get well Greg. I'll always stand by you. You're still young and have a long career ahead of you.

Exactly... of course there have been a lot of players who avoid JQ, which is the other half of the reason we get such crappy coverage of the team. I'm sure the utter contempt for him that the organization displayed during the PatterNash era still exists.

What particularly gets me is that his lazy smarmy jealous and typically negative speculations are often a baseline source for how other markets and the national media portrait the Blazers. This :smiley-muha: speculates, and then they turn around and say "As reported..."

Destroy the chemistry? When he comes back, they should bring him off the bench. Channing doesn't seem like the type to bitch about PT and become a locker room cancer.

Joel can't play 48 minutes a game. Who would you rather have backing him up, Oden or Frye?

What a refreshing post. The typical reaction here, to anything, is to crow about what a genius one is and how "I knew all along . . . blah blah blah."

    Well done!

Yep. Extroverts try to dictate how introverts act, and introverts are judged accordingly. My oldest daughter is an introvert, and one thing we've learned is to work with her personality, and not against it. Introverts are also ideal for team sports since they will conform; a potential problem at a high level is that an introvert will never be a leader of extroverts.

Oden does seem to have many of the traits of an introvert. What people need to realize is that this is not a negative personality trait. This Quick article has brought me my own "revelation" about Oden, and it alleviates the concerns that I was having about his psyche. Now, let's just get the big fella healed and playing!

I was wrong to question Oden's heart. Great article by Quick, and I also want to thank Greg for opening up to Quick about these things.
