    Billups ***could*** be a good coach, in time. He needed a whole lot more experience before getting the head coach position.

    At minimum his staff needed to have a lot more experience on the bench to help compensate for his lack of experience.

    I think Billups will get there, but its a case of putting him in a position before he's ready/earned it.

    I voted for too early to tell. I think that we need to see how Chauncey coaches when he isn't under the pressure to run things in ways that cater to Dame's pre-established offensive tendencies and defensive weaknesses.

    Interesting results so far. Lots of people were very confident he was the guy not too long ago.

    I don't feel my opinion of him has changed much in two years, but where I stand in relation to the fanbase sure seems to have swung.

    I voted yes, he has done well developing young players and has strong buyin from all the Blazers that have been here.

    The Blazers arent anywhere close to a championship or even making a run at the playoffs so none of those attributes matter at this time. When the Blazers have a roster that is ready to win then it may change the coach answer. But we are many years away from that.

    This franchise has so much instability in ownership, the front office, and with executives that a strong leader is very helpful. Billups has a gravitas with players and executives that many coaches, even those who are far better with X's and O's, don't have. For now Billups is a great coach for this franchise. When the roster is hopefully significantly improved one day or if we have stronger ownership that could quickly change.

    No -- I like Billups but I think he is more of a GM / front office type then a HC

    Chauncey will bench reserve players after they just hit 3-4 shots in a row. I've never seen a coach immediately remove a hot hand from the game until director Billups took over in Portland. His stubborn "ride with my guys" program cost the Blazers several contests. The ultimate players coach. High salaries get all the shots, don't care about the outcome.

    I like all the polls but feel like each subject needs a short descriptions added. So this thread could be;

    Quick's Poll - 7 - Coach Billups the right coach?

    On the main page its hard to know what any of these threads are about

    Good point, but I think they’ve about run their course and I’m too lazy to update them.
