Let's not put it on Montgomery. From where I sat on Friday night, the Warriors missed open layups and free throws and got burned by Rick Brunson, Quinton Ross and Bobby Simmons in the 4th Qtr. That is not the coach's (or Mullin's) fault.

You guys are so quick on the trigger that you never blame the players.

Totally agree. Offensively, the warriors are crap and aren't playing together well or with much effort. Plus those were primetime matchup problems at pg because Speedy gives up 5 inches to Brunson, Ross can shoot if given enough playing time, and Simmons is a solid player and we happen to catch him on his hot streak. If he continues to post up like that and play physical he'll get his numbers. I think the only thing Monty could have done was used Dunleavy at pg, Pietrus at sf, Richardson at sg, and just inverted the front court lineup to outside shooters.

Which is why I'm not settled on Jrich or Dunleavy and I'm puzzled as to how Mullin thinks this can be a playoff team without defense. Murphy I can settle with... but outside players that can't play defense really irk me. There is no way we should ever have our future core so lackluster on guarding players straight up. A good player leads by example on both ends of the court and I just don't see good players. Even if Jrich averages 20 points or Dunleavy averages 20 points those are nothing but numbers when your team is still giving up 100 pts per game to the opposing team. To me Dun and Jrich... they are as bad as Glenn Robinson or Jalen Rose. I wouldn't crap on guys like Dirk though because he can play 4 positions and that's always useful, but any other high scoring, softies on D I consider overated. Look at Vince and the Raptors, Jalen Rose when he was with the bulls, Glenn Robinson when he was on the hawks. They do not make their teams better unless it is their sole purpose to score. I think eventually the same thing could happen to guys like Carmelo Anthony when the hype wears away and he doesn't improve the aspect of the game that makes them worthy of being elite. That's just my opinion though that we need leaders on both ends because when there's nobody like that, the culture in Oakland will not change. They will continue to miss the playoffs and be perennial losers.
