As lame as the new name is, this protest is even lamer.

But, it serves a purpose. It gives the the half dozen that show up a chance to feel good about themselves. Their voices will be heard! Their outrage will not be silenced!

Look, I'm not a big fan of the new name, but this protest has zero chance of changing anything. Contracts have been signed and money paid. The deal is done. Protesting now is a complete waste of time.

Maybe Moda will pay for the fountain and fireballs to be turned on again. What a waste of hardscape!

The protest is more about bringing to light that a medical insurance company is spending 40 million of their profits into this name rather than putting the money back into patient care or lower premiums. They are basically calling into question if for profit insurance companies are fair to all?

I got nothing against :Health Care for All Oregon, Portland Jobs with Justice Health Care Committee. I say let them have their rally, it's the American way . . . as long as it doesn't make me late to my seat for tip off. :)

Thanks for the clarification. The OP made it seem like they were protesting the name (I didn't read the link), but your post indicates they are protesting something entirely different. I had the same complaint when I first heard about "MODA's" sponsorship, since they are my health insurer.

I agree! And Chris McGowan said a large chunk of the $$ they are getting from the MODA deal will be reinvested back into the arena resulting in a better fan experience. It's just a name! I could care less.

They're not gonna change a damn thing, get over it. But seriously, the least they could do was call it the Moda Rose Garden. Motherbitches!
