He's still lame.

All these rumours and trades are making me anxious for the start of the season. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Master Shake:</div><div class="quote_post">Man, Chutney, what are the Raptors gunna do know? They didn't make major moves like 3 out of the 4 teams in the Atlantic, but at least they don't have to adjust to a new roster for the first half of the season. Bargnani/Bosh is going to be awesome this season. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting huevonkiller:</div><div class="quote_post">That does not account for the Duke comments or his association with PETA. Also, there are certain PETA initiatives that I do support, even though I find the organization, as a whole, ridiculous. The Duke lacrosse thing annoys the hell out of me, though. Those kids got crucified from the start for no good reason. Common just jumped on the Jesse Jackson/Al Sharpton bandwagon.
God Damn there's no damn reason the Celtics shouldn't be E.C. Champions next season if this deal goes down......damn that's a scary ass team.......

Nobody else from the East can beat the Spurs, Mavs, Suns, Jazz, Rockets, etc. when the title series rolls around.

But we won't see an Eastern team taking a ridiculously easy path to the NBA finals, like this season's Cavaliers. And I think there'll be a playoff race worth paying attention to this time, as well. What's surprising is the number of terrible Eastern Conference GM's that have suddenly started making sense this summer. Danny Ainge has always made terrible trades, but he's on the verge of making two great blockbuster deals. Billy Knight's draft picks never make sense, but he came out with the best player available at #3 and filled a need with his other lottery pick. Charlotte finally dished out money to fill out their starting lineup with a veteran leader. Can you imagine if Kobe gets traded to the East eventually?

He's the one who is responsible for drafting Pau Gasol #3 when nobody knew who he was. He's also the one who is responsible for drafting Shane Battier #6 when everyone was hung up on the fact that he was 22 years old. I remember everyone around town was pushing for Rodney White or Kendrick Brown at the time. The Marvin Williams and Shelden Williams picks didn't make sense, but they're really the only blemishes on his resume. I actually think they should have taken Wright or Conley anyway. Horford doesn't have the same long-term potential Wright does, whereas adding Conley to the roster would have balanced out their roster and made them a legitimate playoff contender out East. Conley/Johnson/Smith/M.Williams/Wright is a better lineup than Law IV/Johnson/Smith/Horford/Wright, imo at least. It's more balanced. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I seriously feel like choking the **** out of someone right now....</div> Why? I didn't like the Josh Childress, Marvin Williams, or Shelden Williams picks and, while Boris Diaw was a good selection, he didn't fit in with that team at all. This year, it just seemed that he came in with a solid plan and executed it very well. btw, why is everyone so high on Mike Conley, Jr.? I'm not saying he's not going to be good (and admittedly I haven't seen him as much as I would've liked to), but teams were looking at him as destined to be an All-Star PG at some point in his career. I thought he benefited from a weak PG class, though, and he reminds me of TJ Ford a lot. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Voodoo Child:</div><div class="quote_post">Why? Two minutes ago you were going on a rant in the Lakers forum about Andrew Bynum... did that piss you off that bad?</div> Delusional Lakers fans are so funny. The news of a Celtics-Timberwolves trade has them so distraught and it's like they honestly thought they had a chance at KG for the past couple years. I also found it funny how they suddenly expected Kupchack to pull off a busy and productive offseason, when he's been incapable of doing that for the past 3 years.
Actually, Knight pulled those moves in Memphis. Moot point though, just saying. I'm not so high on Conley, Jr. as an individual as much as I am high on the fit he would have been for the Hawks. I actually don't think he's a good fit in Memphis. They already have Kyle Lowry and Damon Stoudamire - why do they need another point guard in the mix, especially one with the same game as Lowry? Conley, Jr. is still refreshing though in the sense that he's a throwback. He's a floor general and a distributer first, a scoring option second. He's quick as hell with the ball too, ala Ford (that comparison's not too far off, except I don't think Conley, Jr. will ever be throwing up 12+ attempts per game).
I never saw the Lakers getting KG from the get go. I mean they always came up with these trades that didn't benefit the TWolves. At least Boston gives up Al Jefferson.
Laker fans have dreams to. I'm just happy KG is not going to Phonix or Golden State. I didn't want to see Ellis leave.
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> Why? Two minutes ago you were going on a rant in the Lakers forum about Andrew Bynum... did that piss you off that bad?</div> It's because Kevin Garnett is going to Boston, not because of Andrew Bynum
The thing that annoys me about some Laker fans is that they think they can land pretty much any player that's available with what else....a Odom + Bynum + Kwame deal. Yeah, because everyone wants a guy who can't even catch the damn ball and is pretty weak mentally, a 19 year old who's greatest highlight thus far has been trying to **** around with Shaq and living to tell about it, and an inconsistent forward. The Lakers are stuck with that roster; if Mitch were really thinking from a franchise point of view, he would trade Kobe and get the you/up-coming players needed to make the Lakers competitive again. But no, Mitch, taking the approach of another horrible GM (Mchale), is going to wait it out, make Kobe suffer numerous losing seasons (before 2009 of course) and watch as he opts out. I won't say Kobe didn't put himself in the position, he should have known when he signed that contract that there's no way he'd be competing for a title with the likes of Atkins, Butler, Odom and Grant. To be frank, I'm sad that the best player in the league is going to either miss the playoffs next year, or get eliminated in the 1st round once again (hopefully not at the hands of Phoenix).

This offseason was supposed to detirmine the future of this franchise. We were primed for a big splash, the front office promised us changes. All they did is add another no defense point guard in Derek Fisher. If we're not going to make a big move, like you said, I don't understand why they just won't blow this thing up. Trade Kobe away for young talent, and build for the future, or trade for an impact player, and build to win a championship. It's not that hard. We have a solid group of young guys, and it seems like the front office is more excited about Andrew Bynum's "potential" rather than the actual product of Kobe Bryant, who is 100xs the player Bynum will ever become
