Layer ->Adjustment Layers And then I did an S-type shape. You have to be very subtle when you're making the changes, and just see what looks the best.
Wow, we have some really good graphics people. GMJigga that was a sick photoshop job of All Day Peterson
Alright, got the curve layer. The color layer has me stumped. Do I pick a color from the drop down? What do I do with the sliders?

Do I pick a color from the drop down? What do I do with the sliders?</div> I like to do color balance layers in three steps: one for midtones, one for shadows, one for highlights. You can do one layer and edit all three, but I like to keep my effects organized. Mess with the sliders, and the picture will look better with more of one color than the other.
I tried that, and it looked weird, like without any extra color. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IFWFKYYS Is that what yours was like before the color layer, or did I screw up?
You need to enter in the 3 character code thingy and download it. I kept it as a psd, to retain layers, and didn't know any other way to share it (bigger than the upload limit here)
The download just contains the image, not the psd, so I cant see exactly where you went wrong. By the looks of it I'd say you either curved it way too much, or set the slider too far to red; maybe even a combination of both.
I think I screwed up on the overlay brush part, or maybe the gradient. For the gradient, I set the opacity to 50, and just drew it across. For the overlay brush, I have no clue of what I did. What opacity was I supposed to set it at?
oh oh, don't use a gradient. use a "gradient map" in adjustment layers and set it to "multiply" (instead of normal, color dodge, screen, overlay, etc) as for adding color, if you don't want to do a color balance, try adding a simple gradient like you did, but set that layer to screen, or overlay.
