I have a bit of a problem. History is my favorite class, but my teacher is a bit of a bore. The guy is cool and knows his material, but it's just his lectures are a tad dull. I usually end up falling asleep, or just lose focus. How can I stay awake and actually pay attention?

You could try having a shit load of caffeine and/or sugar before class. Or, you could attempt to write down every word he says. I try that sometimes, usually fun. Personally, I just chill out, let my mind wander, and text/draw every once in a while...and then study and do homework to gain knowledge in that class.
It's an AP class; that's the only reason I'm concerned. I don't want to suffer later on just because I didn't pay attention, nor do I feel like catching up on the material at home.

Seriously though, pay attention to taking notes. That always used to keep me focused. My history teacher sophomore year was like that, and the first few weeks were hell. Then, I started to write more and more, and it seemed to make everything a lot less boring. Keeps you preoccupied. Makes the time fly by fast as hell, too.

Well good thing I don't have to wake up that early for school anymore. High School has too many rules.

I went to an all boys HS, so I didn't have any distractions. I know what you mean though. I took the Rutgers placement test monday, and couldn't focus with all the girls there. And whatever you do, don't look at the clock. Have you seen the link in pegs sig?

Joker just draw doodles in class when he gets to the boring parts, so you don't fall asleep, and for the rest of it listen. Just no Superbad doodles, those are disgusting.

Hell yes, I do it! Seriously though, depends on the type of personality she has. Like emo, upbeat, crazy, funny, etc... But if personality is to my liking, then yes, I'd go for it.
