No wonder they **** it up half the time. The one stylist they have that's good (a European lady that actually takes her time) always has a list full of people waiting for her everytime I go there so I just end up getting it cut by the other ladies. I want to hit up a European place though, usually the barbers there are up-to-date with hairstyles. One of the barbers at First Choice didn't even know what a line-up was. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Yeah those faux-hawks. The one I want is kinda different then the normal ones though, it's hard to explain. They're actually called mohawk's from what my barber and other hairdressers told me. Use Ice Spiker...that sh*t will mold and shape it nice, solid as well.</div> That's basically the faux hawk I would wanna get but my front is a little wavy so it's hard to get the same look from the front. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> You could still pull it off if your hair is a bit wavy or curly. I'll give Icespiker a try next time, hopefully it's not really sticky like hairwaxes tend to be. I don't like using it everyday though cause I think it'll eventually **** up your hair pretty badly.
I got this black broad who cuts my hair, well..I made the mistake of going to some other broad yesterday...she F'd my hair up, so that's why I shaved it today..I kind of miss my longer hair.

They're promoting the hell out of Beckham here in the states, and it's getting annoying. Nobody cares about soccer, and nobody ever will. Pel? couldn't bring soccer to the states, and he's the greatest of all-time, right? Beckham and Adu aren't saving the US soccer scene anytime soon, especially at these stages of their careers (Beckham being nearly retired and Adu being a kid). EDIT - Just before someone flames me, I know I just spelled 'soccer' as 'socker.' Honest typo.
Soccer actually has the largest youth movement in this country right now, which is why sales have skyrocketed and why you see so many teen and kid programs. We also have one of the top five U20 International sides in the World. That means a lot because those kids will eventually be leading this country from the current crap generation into a bright future. Also, the turn out for a simple friendly between Real Madrid and Chivas USA in Chicago was overwhelming for the city. 30,000 people greeted the team at the airport and then another 750,000 tried to get tickets even though the match had been sold out for months. Great days ahead for footy in the States, no doubt about it. For now though, MLS is crap and the whole advertising thing for Beckham is the trashiest thing I've seen since the Play Beautiful Nike commercials, Euro NFL, LeBron James and Sidney Crosby.

Honestly, I find soccer to be much more exciting than baseball (I can't stand WATCHING it...it's so damn boring), and it requires a shitload of skill to play the game. I remember last year during the World Cup, all of the 20 or so soccer fields near my house were all being played on by kids and adults alike. I went to that same field this year and there was only like one field that was taken with a couple of kids playing. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Beckham and Adu aren't saving the US soccer scene anytime soon</div> The U.S's main focus is football, baseball and basketball, and there's simply no room for "pansy" sports (in the traditional American view) like soccer there. Even in Canada, it's mostly hockey interest, followed by basketball, curling (lol I think it's mostly the Eastern provinces that help solidify this stereotype), and perhaps lacrosse. Canadian schools aren't even that big on sports, which is what makes Steve Nash's path to greatness that much greater IMO.

However, they all drop it once they get to middle school or high school and take up real sports, like football and basketball.

Helped on a professional report for a foreign magazine on soccer youth a few years back. The US have potential youth comparable to last generation's Italia programs. That's massive.

Basketball, football, and baseball are already up there in popularity. There's not much growing room for them. I actually think baskeball is surpassing baseball in America.
<div class="quote_poster">Voodoo Child Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I refuse to believe that. Not in this generation, not in the next.
Basketball youth in the United States has long and gone surpassed baseball youth. There are however, more baseball camps then basketball still. That however, doesn't mean anything. Soccer is growing the quickest here in the States, not worldwide. Soccer is already the world's biggest sport by far and away. For instance in reports made in Europe by attendences and other records, the World's most popular footy club Real Madrid has a larger fanbase then the entire NFL league combined. That is scary as hell. Well, you can't wonder then why this team spends around 100 million Euros every couple of months solely on transfering in new players. That's just on players though and that is considered play money. Imagine their income. You may be interested to know that while soccer is the fastest growing sport in the US, basketball is actually the fastest growing sport on a worldwide level. This is due to a massive increase in popularity in European countries as well as Asian ones since Yao's emergence.
Soccer is never, ever going to be a popular sports in the states . That talk has been going on since I can remember, it'll never dethrone the basketball, baseball, football, hell even hockey. I've got myself In a masochistic hold Why don't you let go Shake it off Just to redirect my flow Come on let's go Sit up straight I'm on a double date I've got to find my way Into the light, heavy, middle weight We don't stop rock around the clock Motor mouthing off In front of every other road block Come again and tell me What you're going thru Like a girl who only knew Her child was due Memories of everything Of lemon trees on mercury Come to me with remedies From five or six of seven seas You always took me with a smile When I was down Memories of everything That blew thru Looking up into A reverse vertigo What an undertow Give it up Another stubborn scorpio Come on, let's go Sit up straight I'm on a double date I've got to find my way Into the light, heavy, middle weight We don't stop rock around the clock Motor mouthing off In front of every other road block Come again and tell me What you're going thru Like a girl who only knew Her child was due To the moon she gave Another good review Turn around and look at me It's really really you
I don't think it has to displace any of them to become a big thing. There's so much money in American amateur sports programs, that the US could easily become force in the world stage and build up a strong foundation without taking anything away from the existing sports. I think there's a strong soccer following among the immigrant communities in the US that doesn't get recognized or supported. I do agree with VC about basketball surpassing baseball though. I remember reading an article a while ago about how inner-city kids that used to play baseball back in the day, just no longer do. That's why the number of African-Americans in the sport is slowly falling and a lot more talent is coming from overseas. Basketball's relatively strong throughout America and is only beginning to tap the foreign markets.
Baseball has become a bore amongst the black community, it's a damn shame that these kids would rather rob, steal, murder, slang crack, than play a game that takes a lot of patience and mental toughness and give themselves a chance to make something out of them. I think that's a major reason why there is such a negative feeling towards urban black youth who act like scum, well...outside of the fact that they act like scum. I love the Latin American talent in baseball though. I just don't like how they're obtained, they're basically bought for way cheap and developed into young studs.

Who says that they're giving up on baseball to become criminals? Most of them are just going into different sports (mainly basketball).
I actually think soccer will soon pass hockey. ESPN has just as many soccer analysts as they do hockey analysts these days, and the Stanley Cup had historically low ratings this year. There are only a few cities where people care about hockey - Detroit, Boston, New York, and all the Canadian cities. Everywhere else, it's pretty much a dead sport. That's largely due to poor marketing by the NHL. They've had some very marketable players over the years, but most Americans will never hear of them, because the NHL and their affiliates can't seem to get their names out there. I grew up playing hockey in Detroit, my dad played collegiately, and my uncle played professionally for Philadelphia, but even I don't know more than 30 or so players in today's game, and those 30 or so I can name are all old veterans at this point. The younger stars are a mystery to me.
