Two biggest things came out of this game are Holtby got lit up and Nash finally scored. They are doing this for the hobbit.
The question is did the Caps reach a peak here. That was no doubt their best game of the series. Does that carryover or was it because we scored some goals and they had to press, with a big boost of energy from their home crowd.

They got worse after the 3 goal lead. They need to play these games like it's still 0-0. You never see Black Hawks coast when they build a lead, they just keep attacking because they know if the puck is in the offensive end of the ice. it will be hard for the other team to score. man I wish the Rangers would start playing that way.
yes, boyle played much better. I thought Sheppard played his best game as ranger. Everyone played well. Great sign for us.
They get caught being too weak on the puck sometimes. At 4-1 get the puck out of there. An icing isn't the worst thing in the world with a three goal lead.
I was worried about tonight's game also jam. As for MSL, I just don't think he has the gas left to be more than a 3rd line guy now. He wins ZERO puck battles. It is crazy.
That's the problem, they don't try and ice it. they try to be to cute and bang it off the boards, to prevent the icing.
Take note that Chimera and Ward are the oldest Cap players. Chimera is 36. Ward is 34. Not surprised OV boards McD......that's his MO and nothing is called. But if a Ranger did that to OV, it would be a 5 min major.......because OV would put on a writhing, poor is me, show. Ov's intent is clear....To injure. Remember it has been McD blanketing OV since Game 2. Just saying.
Girardi's been solid in the postseason but man he was shaky tonight. The Caps don't exactly make it easy to be fair i guess. They wait too long making a decision.
