"Right-hander Tanner Scheppers had a precautionary MRI exam on his strained lower back and will be evaluated by Dr. Keith Meister on Saturday afternoon. Scheppers was injured Thursday early in his appearance against the Chicago Cubs. He said he never felt at his best while warming up and felt discomfort after this third pitch. He lasted only two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk. "I tried to pitch through it — probably not the smartest idea," he said. "In spring training, I probably shouldn't have pushed it. Now, I've got to figure it out and get healthy.""
