What? McDonagh is 100% a # 1 dman. You are nuts sc.... He is also on pace for 15 goals and 40 points. I think he has a very good shot to break 50 points next season. The arrow is pointing up on his offensive game IMO.
That's true he is one of the best in the league so i guess that puts him as a #1, though he's neither overly physical or offensive. Staal/DG are good 2's, though i see Girardi closer to a second pair guy talent wise.
That's it. McD is a clear # 1 dman with Norris dreams in his future. Staal and Girardi are both # 2's IMO. The # 4 spot is the issue on our D. That simple really. That is where we need to add a big physical pounding style dman to round out the top 4 and play with Staal. We add that and we have an amazing D next season. Klein and Moore are very good as a 3rd pair. Our D is very close to being great. Just need that one extra top 4 physical guy to play with Staal and we are set.
He may be a #1 but he's not especially physical, he won't clear anyone out in front. None of them do.
