Ah yeah, I was questioning how she got away with it since I assumed you were too old. Anyways That sucks. Im not sure what else to say.
Man I have my accountant do my taxes and write it off every year. Doesn't help you this year, but that might be what you should consider for the future. I never mix money and family. I have no contact with both of my parents for different reasons, so I'm lucky this won't ever happen to me.
Im kind of the opposite my wife and my parents handle our taxes, businesses, all that together all the time. Im technically head of the estate but Im bad at it... My parents and my wife are legitimately awesome people though.
I didn't like his post or agree with any piece of it. Especially given your stated goal of just wanting to rant without hearing any advice. I get that. I just find it funny that Sly gave up on all trying to hide his bias.....your post needs edited by the rules each and every time it is made whether I agree with you or not. If I felt it my business I would have asked questions about the situation to understand it better.
Thats great man. We are lucky to have my wife's parents in our lives. They are fantastic people who have more than filled the roll for me. Tough not having my biologicals in the mix, but that ain't happening.
I believe there is a rule maybe unwritten that if someone is baited(trolling in an attempt to rile someone up) into saying something and it's clear as day. That both posts need moderation not just the response to the bait. Being that he didn't edit either post I'm not sure how that's bias.
Maybe it was like how you like posts? You agree with a sentence and then like it. Regardless of the content in the post.
I do that and know sly does too. He still doesn't like Maris and pretending that isn't true is silly. I'm one of not if the favorite employee at my work. After any meeting where my boss says we all need to do so and so better he comes and tells me "I didn't mean you"
She committed fraud. Like.... "go to jail because you lied to the government" fraud. He's mad because he would have given her the $500 if she had asked, instead of committing fraud on her taxes and costing him much more than $500. Clearly you didn't read what he wrote. Also, just because someone births you doesn't entitle them to fuck you over and defraud you. There are plenty of shitty parents. And if you think that parents can do no wrong, I question your abilities as a parent.
My wife's parents (and more specifically her mother) are insane. So you are lucky, because not all in-laws are good. Some of them are certifiably insane.
There's a lesson in dependency and trust here....somewhere between the ranting. I trusted a relative once and it cost me a lot more than that...it is a lesson. I do respect the right to rant though and it's H.C.'s post so in my view...rant away and don't worry about the peanut gallery
I've always been involved in my taxes as I was never given the option to not be. My grandmother would look them over, unfortunately she passed away late in 2018. Which was a huge blow to me personally. With her being gone I've had to look elsewhere. Next year I will just make sure I handle them myself. It's my fault for trusting people.
Geez, am sorry to hear of you're misfortune. But the story is confusing. You are not close, but you let her do your taxes? Did this become the seminal moment, where you first understood her character?
