Everyone is peachy with the Euros again after Dirk's playoff performance but I am still uneasy about taking one of these lanky bigs. So many of them have been drafted and so few have panned out.
Really? IMO this guy has the highest bust potential of people we are considering. @Speeds and Master Shake, J. Val is not your "traditional" Euro (ie. Bargnani). He doesn't hang around the perimeter. He is known as an energetic, rebounding, physical centre who has high defensive potential. His comparison (via Draftexpress) is Joakim Noah. He obviously needs to bulk up but I think he will benefit from another year overseas.
^Agreed 100%. However, Utah has so many reasons to pick Knight over Kanter or Val. Point guard is a position of need for them and their front court positions are loaded (Favors, Millsap, Okur, Jefferson), I don't see how they can fit another big there.
Don't the jazz have Devin Harris? I think they need a two guard more than a PG. IMO I think they should go BPA at 3 and then someone like Alec Burks, who is projected to go where their other pick is.
Did Stuart Scott just say Tristan Thompson is the 3rd active player in the NBA, joing Jamal Macgloire and Joel Anthony?
Raps pick Valanciunas, I am pretty excited, they left Brandon Knight on the board though, hope they don't regret it.
Val definitely > than BB. But I am very unimpressed that we left Knight on the board. Btw Jan Vesley's girlfriend is hot!
I am interested in what kind of moves the Raptors make in the off-season, Valanciunas probably won't play next season but I wonder if they'll trade Bargs eventually.
Jonas reportedly has a $2.5m buyout with his current team. Since the NBA can only contribute $500,000 towards it, Jonas would have to come up with the rest. His $3.4m contract is enough to cover it (especially if he can spread out payment over several years) but odds are he will remain in Lithuania for another season.
Considering there may be no season, or half a season next season, the timing is the best it will ever be for such a situation. Still not good but not a disaster.
