<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">no man, no. 250-390 000 range.</div> Are you joking or being serious... can't tell... becasue the veteran's minimum alone is over 1 million a year, and even a 2nd rounders contract out of the draft is about 600k a year... noone in the league gets paid 250-390 000 on a long term deal, especially players like Scala or Bonner.
I hope that guy was joking about signing Bonner to a long term contract at 290-390 k... Only rookies get that and 2nd rounders at that. Bonner is young and is bound to improve with time... he is already solid and I think a 1.5-2 mill contract is what we should offer him.

He looks like his ceiling is reached already. According to Bonner's agent, they're asking for around $2.5 million / year and if that's the asking price, I think Babcock can get him for $2 million / year, especially if you take into considerations that no other teams look like they're interested. He would've signed an offer sheet already if anyone was seriously interested.
He has gotten contacted by 3-5 teams already. The reason that he hasn't signed an offer sheet yet, is because Toronto is his number one choice. If he asks for 2.5 Million, that would be ok in my mind. He has the potentiol to average 10/5, he hustle's, defense isn't anything spectacular, but it is sill all right, and he can spread the floor, because he is just money from 15-20 feet and in. We arn't going to get any more free agents, and we still have a portion of the MLE left. I say if he wants 2.5, sign him. Anything higher than that, he is going to have to find another arena to walk to. =)

True, Toronto is his most preferred destination, but do you think his agent will let him miss the opportunity to make $2.5 ~ 3 million a year? He will lie to Bonner that Babcock tried to lowball him if that would get him to sign with another team.
Bonner prevsiouly showed alot of interest in Toronto. He likes the city, and I think his agent is stirring things up a bit in the media. However, I think Bonner's talent ceiling hasn't necessarily been reached, but his imrpvment curve is levelling off and when he shows improvements, I don't think it will be anything drastic.
I think Bonner can improve, he will probably become stronger with age, and improve every area some. He also seems to mesh well with the team and doesn't demand shots. I hope that Bonner's love for T.O gets him to stay for slightly less money. Common Red Rocket for 1.5-2 mill for 4-6 years!!!
