I'm watching Monsters Inc for the 3 billionth time (ok slight overstatement) It is my 2 year old's favorite movie and he broke the DVD a few months ago. We just got him a new one and now he is watching it 3+ times a day. Still a hilarious movie though, even if I can quote from anywhere in the movie. 8.5/10
Across the Universe Solid movie. Obviously great music throughout and a good plot to go along with it. 8.5/10
Its been a while since I posted in here so I got a lot of reviews: 8/10. Watched this on VC's rec and hes right, it is nostalgic even though I just graduated high school like 2 months ago. Crazy how many people form this movie went on to be pretty big actors. 8.5/10. Glad that I got a new comedy show to watch on my friend's recommendation. The Office seems like it fell off a bit last season (JMO). BTW anyone else think the Charlie character is basically a modern day George Costanza? 8.5/10. Good movie, kind of corny at the end though. 7.5/10.
The Descent - Please don't see it, terrible movie. I'd rather watch the Notebook than that crap. Except I'll give it 2 points for the pretty hot women, and sweet opening scene. 2/10 Blow Out - (Not a Porno) Sweet movie about how a guy sorta finds out about the killing of a presidential candidate that is deemed by most to be an "accident", and attempts to tell the world about it. The ending was pretty sad and cool at the same time...but it leaves a lot of loose ends, and that bothered me. 7/10
7/10 Not bad. Weird seeing Adam Sandler in a serious movie role. 8/10 Had a couple of good laughs. In every movie he is in, Connery manages to irritate me. Regardless, solid movie.
8/10- Pretty good drama, very emotional. Very good performances by Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro (never liked him before this movie). 6.5/10- Obviously its a play off of Supersize Me, mildly interesting but not very funny. 6.5/10- I thought it was a cool concept with a lot of potential but that potential wasn't realized. Ok movie at best, if nothing else its a unique experience. 8.5/10- Good shit. Also watched The Departed again, its still a 10/10 lol.
The Village: 9.1/10 Severely underrated if you ask me. Some people just don't understand the deeper meaning and symbolism of this movie, in a similar way that some people don't get No Country For Old Men. The only thing that kept this move from being a 10 in my opinion was the corny-ness of some of the scenes with Ivy Walker in the woods. Overall though, definitely one of my top movies.
8/10. Kind of a let down when I found out that its not really a true story even though it says this at the beginning: "THIS IS A TRUE STORY. The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred." Does it aggravate anyone else when movies say stuff like this but its not true? I mean its one thing to say its "based on a true story"- then the audience knows that it has some threads of truth but is largely fabricated. When you say THIS IS A TRUE STORY and its not, its just flat out lying. Maybe others don't care about whether a movie is true or not but it bugs me because it alters the whole way I interpret a movie. Still a solid movie though.

Check out the Nets' Off-topic TDK thread, or the "official" one. http://sportstwo.com/forums/Dark-Knight-t119838.html http://sportstwo.com/forums/Dark-Knight-Of....html&st=60 I was not in love with the plot at certain points. I'm not hating on the cast though.
8/10- Pretty good movie, a lot like Requiem for a Dream in that it shows how people slip into addiction as well as their new lives as junkies, of course with a bit of a basketball twist in there.
The Dark Knight - 1000000/10 Hands down the best movie of the year and one of the five best movies I think I've ever seen. Heath Ledger's (RIP) Joker was absolutely brilliant and sadistic, and topped Jacks utterly brilliant Joker as well. If he doesn't win an Oscar for his performance, that'd be unfortunate, cause he was brilliant, some of the best acting I've EVER seen.
