I thought it was hilarious. It was made even funnier by the fact that we were sitting in front of three old grannies. When you go to a weekday matinee it seems that some old people just "go to the movies" without much regard for what they want to see. Then within the first three or so minutes there is a cum joke, lol. It's an 8 or a 9 and one of the funnier films of the year. Hopefully it leads to more film roles for Zach Galafanakis, who I've enjoyed watching for a few years.
Into the Wild: Great movie based on a true story. The ending was beautiful much to my surprise. Definitely the kind of film that deserved an Oscar. 9/10
It was a really good movie. I remember it had big time hype when it came out (because the book was insanely popular) and, like most book-to-movie works a lot of people shitted on it and gave it a bad reputation. I thought it was a great movie though. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button- 8/10. Pretty solid but not great. The underlying resemblance to Forrest Gump is undeniable.
I loved the ensemble, just great acting overall and a very inspiring message I thought. Most critics liked it at least, I was very surprised it didn't get nominated for best picture it totally has that vibe. I liked Kristen Stewart in her small part, she actually has some musical talent and she was quite charming here. Music on the official soundtrack was fitting too, the guy is pure grunge rocker at heart. ;]
Gran Torino - 8/10 Amazing film. Acting was good. Some hilarious lines. Eastwood's character reminds me so much of my grandpa.
Anvil: The Story of Anvil -- 6/10 -- a little overhyped it seems; not bad but not especially moving or tragic; Anvil is opening for AC/DC in New York or something, IIRC, so I guess it has a happy ending. Screamers: The Hunting -- 2/10 -- why do I subject myself to shitty Sci-Fi so frequently? It might be the genre with the widest gap between good and bad films. This one is especially bad, almost like they put a lot of effort into making it shitty.
Hoop Dreams- 8.5/10, fuggin good. Been watching Weeds a lot lately too. Started out shitty but after a friend told me to keep watching I'm drinking the kool aid.
Trainspotting 9/10. Absolutely loved it. The shit with the baby though and the.. well shit got me going though.
I also enjoyed Gran Torino. Classic Eastwood. I finally saw Slum Dog Millionaire. I give it a 6/10. Frieda Pinto is beautiful. The level of poverty in India is really depressing. Contrast it to the CNBC coverage of India's growing economy and all the luxury malls scheduled to being built. There doesn't seem to be any balance, but hopefully the emerging middle class can lessen the gap. I hate seeing kids have to struggle and live in those disgusting conditions.
Dance of the Dead -- 6/10 -- if Disney made a zombedy, this would be it; struggles to find a consistent tone; light, fluffy, and sometimes funny; have you ever been in a residential house with a door downstairs that leads directly into the city sewer system? Shawn of the Dead is a better choice.
The International -- 7/10 -- looked good, Owen was magnetic as usual, the dialogue was nice, and the locations were cool. Forgettable, though. Also, spoiler, the scene where the guy takes off his bulletproof vest and then is promptly shot in the chest was a bit ludicrous. Taking off armour in a gunfight = great idea.
Gran Torino - 8/10 I agree with you, Mamba. Great acting by Clint, but Toad and Sue were fucking dreadful. I loved the storyline even though the ending was sad. If you haven't seen it yet, rent it!
The Hangover - 6/10 Pretty decent movie and there were definitely a few scenes that had me laughing. I still liked Pineapple Express better but The Hangover is still worth going to see. I was offered to see Up today but I declined--Is it worth watching?
LMAO! God, those lines were so great. Fuckkkkkkkkk man, such an awesome movie. The scene with the 3 black dudes, asian girl, and white dude had me rollin when he rolled up to them.
7.5/10 A lot of critics are shredding this movie. I think they're crazy. I thought it was a damn good action, pop corn flick. And plus Megan Fox made me cum about 5 times in the 2+ hours I was with her.
I disagree with Pineapple Express. I thought that movie was so overhyped and overrated, I'd only give it a 6/10 at best. Too many of my friends raved about it and it just fell flat on its face for me. As for Up, I thought it was funny. Typical Disney Pixar fare, so if you've liked their other movies, you'd like it. Doug (the dog in all the commericals) is absolutely hilarious.
