You guys are really overlooking Leo. He may not be the greatest actor, but at least he really works on his craft. In all honesty, I would have loved to see Pitt in Leo's part though.
How are we overlooking him? We credited him, but he is very overrated. He has horrible line delivery. Pitt would've been good in that role, agreed. I'd like to see Marty work with Scorsese, which we might get too. Marty is starting production on a Frank Sinatra biopic, entitled Sinatra, and Universal wants Depp to play Frankie because of how good he was in Public Enemies. I'm fuckin' stoked for that if it works out.
WTF @ the bold part. I heard on the radio a few days ago that Leo will be playing Sinatra. He won't be singing as they'll just use Sinatra's voice for the songs but I was disappointed when I heard. And yeah, Leo is a good actor. Hes not a great actor though IMO. Especially when it comes to roles with a lot of intense moments or where he has to be angry. Mamba nailed it when he said he was money in Aviator but in everything else hes just good to very good but doesn't blow you away.
If there is an actor who is plain and uncharismatic it is Matt Damon. It works in the Bourne series because he doesn't really know who he is or who he is supposed to be, but in other roles he is just unbuttered toast.
I meant to say Marty work with Depp. I know Marty wants Leo to play Frank, but the studio wants Depp. Hopefully the studio wins.
Romeo & Juliet, What's Eating Gilbert Grape? He was exceptional in those roles as well. But I agree. In all fairness, there aren't many amazing 'acteurs' nowadays (especially in his age range), and most big names get pop for the buck.
Totally forgot about Gilbert Grape. He was money in that too. Going to see Shutter Island tonight, we'll see how he is in that.
Fanboys -- 5/10 -- really unfunny, endless shitty cameos, and the worst two performances of Seth Rogan's career. Dunno why this was so hyped. Kristen Bell looked good. The Hurt Locker -- 9/10 -- fascinating and captivating film. Sticks with you.
Would also give it an 8.5. As I read someone else say about it, I'm sure one can appreciate it even more on the second viewing. Want to see it again SOOOOO bad.
You kinda addressed your previous statement with this. And Kristen Bell is beautiful.
Invention of Lying -- 5/10 Just average. Ricky Gervais is hilarious but the plot was missing that spice.
The Faculty - 6/10 Nothing special but putting Salma Hayek (though a small role) and Jordana Brewster on screen is never a bad thing. I also thought Harnett and Wood were okay. This also had Jon Stewart in it which made it a 6 from a 5.
Casino - 10/10 I'm done trying to find flaws in Scorsese's masterpieces. Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and Casino are all 10/10's for me.
Casino and Taxi Driver are the only 10s from that list. Goodfellas is probably a 9 and 8 for raging bull. Imo. Taxi Driver was probably his best movie though.
