Ray talked with the Thunder at one point before the season. He talked with the Spurs at one point. A guy at this point in his career can sign with a winner after the allstar break and try to get a ring. I don't see why Portland is out of the question. You'd have to trade Claver or Wright or both for a draft pick somewhere to open up a roster spot and sign him and could keep the young guys we have.

Right now after beating the Nets, I feel pretty good about standing pat this season and see which bench players are going to shine. I like the depth.

I would still take him. We play Barton and Barton is only 6'5.

Yup. This season is one of those rare seasons where the Championship is up for grabs. Until CLE puts it all together, there is no clear top team or teams in the league. San Antonio is the closest thing, but are by no means a run-away favorite. This is the year to swing for the fences.

You have a point but there would be chemistry concerns. I think Antonio Harvey and Jerome Kersey had a little argument over something like this last night on Talkin Ball. If a player is already playing and doing fairly (CJ) well he doesn't want to go back to the bench where Clavar is already on the bench. If we brought in a player like Ray Allen the only way CJ gets minutes is an injury to Wes or Ray. So it's not all that cut & dry on who to cut.

Probably the most idiotic idea of this forum to date. Okay, let's cut our most promising young player because we can't give him time so we can bring a 40 year old vet! Wtf dude!!!! Think before you post next time.

First of all mags, Ray Allen would be a rental for any team that signed him. He'll make that team's bench better. He's not a move for the future, he's a piece come playoff time that boosts anybody. I like our roster, hell I even like Claver but Allen is a lights out scorer off the bench and savvy enough to fit into any rosters system without much adjustment. He'd thrive in Portland for a half a year but I don't see it happening.

Well see what I'm responding to. BGD said we'd cut CJ instead of Claver to make room because there isn't enough time for CJ.

As you said, this is a rental, so releasing Claver is obvious

If we brought in Ray Allen, I would really like to see a consolidation trade of Barton or CJ paired with Thomas Robinson. Maybe for a draft pick?

Or maybe Minny bites on a TRob/CJ/Wright trade for Thad Young?

    Dame/Blake
    Wes/Allen
    Batum/Crabbe
    LA/Young
    Rolo/Kaman

That's a really solid 10 man rotation right there.

Thaddeus young is a sf version of JJ hickson. He's gonna fill stats and look great on terrible teams, but that's about it.

I'm fine with that off the bench. He can come in and score. We need that with our second unit.

Bring in Ray, trade Will+T-Rob to Indy for Copeland (he is expiring) and a lottery protected draft pick.

    Dame / Blake
Wes / CJ-Allen (depending on situation)
    Batum / Crabbe-Copeland / Claver
    Aldridge / Leonard-Freeland
    RoLo / Kaman

That's actually not a bad idea really. Indy may really suck enough for us to get a top 15 pick!

I'd love to do this trade and have George comeback and lead the Pacers to the 8th seed. Getting the 15th pick along with our likely mid 20s would be dope, we could totally move up in the draft and pick up a guy like Cauley-Stein or if his stock drops Stanley Johnson.

Did I say lets just do this? My argument was it's not all cut and dry who we would cut should this happen and it probably wouldn't anyway. Say this did happen though and CJ went back to the bench and started bitching over playing time I'm sure and others would think differently about CJ though.

When has CJ ever bitched about playing time?! Did you just assume again?

He's not bitching but I did see him out messing with Matthews' car after the game last night.

He hasn't but you never know. Jerome never did and he said yesterday on Talkin Ball that he wouldn't stand for it. He'd want to play. You bring in Ray Allen CJ goes back to the bench and goes back to getting garbage time when a player like Victor is already there. I'm just saying it's not all that simple.
