Utah has Sexton so they probably don't want Ant but if we can somehow get Lauri from them, he's cheaper than Wiggins

Now you sound like @swish3. At his age, and after the season he put up, why would Utah have even the slightest interest in parting with him?

Why would Utah give up Lauri?

Maybe our draft pick becomes high enough and they value a player in the draft (that could be had with where our pick lands) so much so that they'd make him available

Wouldn't Lauri go, at worst, 3rd in this draft (and most likely 2nd)?

How about Julius Randle? I know his name has been kicked around a few times.

for sure, Lauri Markkanen would be an incredible add for the Blazers. A Markkanen/Grant forward combo would be pretty dynamic

but...the window for Portland adding Markkanen has passed. Portland had a great shot at Markkanen but of course, the idiot-not-savant Olshey fucked the trade up....way way up and way way fucked...way way dumbfuck

less than 2 years ago this is what the Bulls traded Markkanen for:

    upload_2023-4-20_9-7-9.png

the Bulls were willing to accept what Portland traded for Nance. Blazers could have cut Cleveland out of the deal and have just taken Markkanen instead of Nance

Blazers keeping Olshey on the job for all those years is like if the tanker company that owned the Exxon-Valdez had kept Captain Hazelwood on the job for years even while he kept running various ships onto the rocks. Maybe Olshey was a day-drinker like Hazelwood; that would explain why he needed somebody to park his car

Exactly why Utah wont get rid of him. Contact is too good.

Blazers could have yes likely got Markkanen instead of Nance many years ago.

But they could have also probably got him last summer for Eric Bledsoe and a mediocre pick, Utah wasn't trying to get players to win. Instead Cronin had Jody pocket the cash, as has been prioritized with all his moves.

So we no longer have only Neils incompetence, we have promoted a GM that can't get ownership to spend a dime, which at least Neil could do.

c'mon man...that's stretched a light year past credible

To start with, you don't have a clue how highly Ainge valued Markkanen in a Donovan Mitchell trade. And Portland didn't have an unencumbered mediocre pick to trade

but more than that is the massive disconnect in logic that I've seen Cronin-'haters' employ constantly: on one hand you're saying Cronin is incompetent. But you claim he could have stepped in and stolen massive value from Ainge, of all people, using Bledsoe's expiring contact...a new urban legend is evolving: RLEC--->EBEC

"How about Julius Randle? I know his name has been kicked around a few times"

A 20ppg scorer that's not on a cap killing contract is exactly what Portland needs. The question is, how do the Blazers pry Randle off the Knicks with Nurkic and a draft pick? That new rookie better be have some All-Star potential.

Then Cronin is an idiot if he can't do it because a game said it could be done!
