I think you get Bam by trading the Heat: Ant, Nurk and three first round picks and you have to take back Duncan Robinson with Bam.

Whats the Heat's motivation from moving on from their best player who is all of 26?

My prediction is that Fred VanVleet leaves Toronto in Free Agency and they need a PG. Ant for OG would make sense, but I'd be interested in fielding their Dame offers as well.

I think if we really ant to go for it - and Dame, Joe and Chauncey clearly really want to go for it - we're going to have to take some chances, big swings.

I am reminded of when Petrie went to the Kings in '97 or so, He traded for Vlade, that was safe. Drafted Peja, which was a total wildcard that worked out, and then traded for the misunderstood, brooding Chris Webber. Webber wouldn't even report to the woeful Kings. THAT was a risky trade.

But it worked out, big time, Drafting White Chocolate, and getting Scott Pollard and Doug Christie rounded out one of the most beautiful, fun teams to watch, ever. That is the model I really think Cronin is looking for. A massive move of fitting pieces and a couple of big players,

Gobert may be the Chris Webber, who knows? All I know is that if they don't SWING FOR THE FENCES, all three are gone - Joe, Chauncey, and Dame.

    I'm so damn excited!!!

The only thing the Kings forgot to acquire was some unbiased refs.

Bam is nice but we need a legit second star. Bam ain’t it.

If we could somehow muster enough to get Brown and Bam…. That’s a contender.

I just don’t know if we have enough to make it happen. We would have to make sharpe available. And the pick. See if Chicago will accept the NYK pick so we can send out future picks. Even then….

I was thinking Bam plus taking on Duncan Robinson would take Ant, Nurk, the 23rd pick (guarantee the Bulls next year's pick with one of the two seconds we're owed next year), 2026 FRP and 2028 FRP. I think this trade is ideal if we get lucky and land Wemby. I do think that Bam satisfies Dame's win now superstar request. So at that point maybe we can take a guy like Taylor Hendricks or Jarace Walker and Dame will be cool with it. Or maybe the Bulls would take our first rounder for Patrick Williams who if the trade was finalized before the new league year would allow Williams to fit into our TPE.

Obviously there are other targets like Siakam, I just think that in Chauncey's system with Dame drawing so much attention along with Shae and Jerami getting a fair amount of attention away from the hoop that Bam would really dominate on both ends and when defenses collapse on him on O he has the passing skills to get the ball back out.

We'll just see where the pick ends up and then we'll see what happens after that. All of these are just complete shots in the dark I just really like Bam both as an allstar talent and a perfect fit for our most glaring needs.

With Miami losing, I think they look to blow it up.
So who else would be in the market for Bam who would also have the assets?
would Nurk, a future first and little be enough?

Trying to talk my way into this being plausible so then we can use Ant, this years pick and futures along with whatever throwins to go after Brown.
    Dame/Sharp/Brown/Grant/Bam

    is a contending starting five.

I don't see it being realistic to acquire Bam at a cost that leaves the Blazers with enough to contend. He is the franchise player for Miami and still has a timeline there even if they rebuild.

However Butler is the vet I see as a much more realistic target. Miami may be eliminated from the playin on Friday. I don't think the Blazers even need to give up the 5th pick for him. They could give up future firsts and the NY pick instead.

Butler for #23, two unprotected future firsts, Nurk, NAS, other contracts to match (Knox, resign Reddish, etc)

So the Blazers get Butler to win next year with a trio including Dame and Grant. But the Blazers would still keep a very bright future with Ant, Shae, and #5.

Hoopsjock had a good point that he hopes the Blazers would immediately use the TPE with a lottery team to add a ~7 million salary. Then it could be aggregated in 60days to trade at the draft. That would give more flexibility to acquire a starting player like Butler over the summer and keep Ant. Problem is Jody seemingly hasn't spent a dime since controlling the team.

From what im reading, this cant happen. Cant trade future firsts without giving up the NY pick to Chicago, right?

Incorrect; the firsts just have to be specified as two years after the pick conveys to Chicago.

The Blazers can't just give the NY pick to Chicago. They can work to agree to modify the pick they owe to Chicago, such as removing protections or acquiring their pick back for the NY pick. But Chicago has to agree to that, which rumor are they are open to.

Even if Chicago and Portland can't agree to those changes; the Blazers can just make the firsts conditional in a new trade such as when the Lakers did this to send out protected firsts in acquiring both Dwight Howard and Steve Nash.

Blazers can do that but the Blazer first would not have much value at all. It might never convey, and if it did it could be in 2029 (which is as far ahead as Portland is allowed to trade)

I came up with the same idea, but am wondering if we went that route if it would be worth rerouting Duncan to Tortonto with our first rounder this year (let's say it's 3 - 6) for Anunoby? That seems like a decent return for the raptors, but maybe they hate it because they don't want that contract, who knows. I do like this lineup, but we would need to sign a backup PG and a backup big. It may be a good enough lineup to attract ring-chasers, who knows. There would be a shitload of dunks.

    Lillard
    Sharpe/Thybulle
    Anunoby/Nas
    Grant
    Bam

That is a contending starting lineup... so yeah, I think that would be worth it. The bench would have to be improved. We'll just see what happens on May 16th.
