His deal is too good for Memphis to let him go

my comparison wasn't to offensive talent. Obviously Wemby has more upside on that end of the floor than those others. If he reaches it or not depends on a lot of factors

my comparison was on defense and with lateral mobility. I've watched video of Wemby on defense. He's not fast...at all. He has average lateral mobility, at best, and his reactions seem slow. He'll improve with experience obviously, but he's miles away from matching guys like Tatum or Giannis or Siakam or Draymond. And again, having him that far away from the basket on defense guarding perimeter players is diluting his strength which would be that length in the paint and around the rim

IMO, any forward good at dribble-drive will eat Wemby's lunch. He'll probably have better luck against PF's like Markkanen, Mobley, Christian Wood, etc.

I for one love that we're already spending time breaking down guys we'll find in 2 days we have no chance at ever seeing on our team.

    LMAO

    Why would we do this?

We have a huge hole at 3.

This would create a huge hole at 3 AND 4.

Would Ant, Nurk and #7 get you a decent forward?

Assuming it did, we would still have a large gaping hole at one of 3 or 4.

Yes but if we trade Grant for Ayton we have a large gaping hole at both

The least valuable position in all of basketball, yay.

Meanwhile at 2 of the most important positions, we suck ass.

    Net negative IMO.

The last 5 MVPs have all been over 7’

But what, in your opinion, is the most valuable. I personally think it’s a wing

    I didn’t say height, I said position… and Giannis doesn’t play C. Lopez does.

So the last 3 MVPs have been centers and how many championships do they have to account for that?

The most important is wing players IMO.

My latest and greatest hot take:

I’ll take a borderline all star at the 3/4 over a multi time all star at the 1 or 5.

(note ALL star and not SUPER star)

The most valuable position in the league is still the 5 it's just a 5 that can do a whole helluva lot more than most that post on here are used to a 5 (except Bill Walton in 1976-77) doing.

Size still matters and Embiid has all of the skills and size.

When Embidd was guarding Tatum a good portion of the time you see that his energy level was depleting.

The Tatums didn't beat the Embiids, the Celtics beat the 76ers. While Tatum went off in game 7 after stinking it up the two games prior, they won the series mostly because the sum of their parts were better, especially with Embiid hobbled with his latest injury. He doesn't tweek his knee again and likely they close out the Celtics prior to last night.

Giannis often logs significant time on the court with Brook Lopez sitting, where he's guarding the other team's biggest Big... what position is he playing then? Winning in the playoffs is mostly about talent, both individual and overall. The MVP is a regular season award. If an MVP is injured in the playoffs to the point they are missing games (Embiid & Giannis), that matters a whole lot. If the 2nd and 3rd best players on the MVP's team are out with injury (Nuggets), that matters a whole lot too regardless of what position the MVP plays. Your point about positional importance is debatable at best, but it pales in comparison to health. That 3 of the 4 teams still playing feature All Star stud centers pokes a pretty gaping hole in your theory that Centers lack value in the modern game.

Blazers get rights to draft Victor. Send Ant / multiple future 1st to Nets for Mikal Bridges. Sign Seth Curry to bolster bench shooting. This is the Mother Freakin' Way.
