My biggest hang up is Ingram's health.

Asked my podcast boss, a major Philly fan, if he would take Sharpe, Simons, Nurk, #3 (if it’s Scoot) for Embiid and he said yes. They’d have 4 guards needing minutes but they’d figure that out later,

Prob is I really think they like Fultz at PG and they have Suggs too. Fultz had a great under the radar season last year.

Ingram is such a dream fit next to Dame for me. i would pull that trigger fully acknowledging the injury risk if NO takes it.

I don't know how realistic it is, BUT, N.O. saves a ton of money immediately. At 3, they either get a PG of the future to pair with Zion, or they get a SF that can immediately replace him. Also move up from 14 to 11. Murphy and Jones can also easily cover the 3 spot, allowing Miller to come in slowly.

Agreed the 2015 reset was fine, and a good example of how to use Blazers cap space. The big Olshey fuckup was giving out all those 2016 contracts to Turner/Meyer/etc. That locked in shit rosters with no flexibility, digging a hole the next 4 years, and wasting much of Dames prime.

I'd argue 2017 draft was much more harmful to our future. We could have survived the shit contracts he threw out in 2016 if we didn't walk out of that draft with Zach Collins and Caleb Swanigan. Could have had Bam and Dillon Brooks. John Collins, OG Anunoby and Dillon Brooks. Those guys and Josh Hart. But we traded up for Collins and somehow doubled down on shit bigs with Swanigan.

That trade made me so mad. Dame needed help and we dealt the picks for a project big.

Yep, Neil and his staff blew it. But it's time to move on. I know Joe was on that Staff, but he's added some very good new personnel to his. They've made moves to get flexibility. Shown a keen eye for developmental type players ( Watford, & Mays look like keepers), and seemed to have gotten their Lotto pick , and end of draft pick right (Sharpe & Walker). Now lets see what they can do with that capital.

I would think that they would S&T Kyrie, maybe the same with Wood but I think the Lakers could and would be able to get better than that for AD and the Mavs only have one tradeable FRP (2027) to try and make up the difference.

    How about trade for BOTH Bridges and Brown;

    Blazers acquire Bridges/Brown/Claxton
    Celtics acquire Simons/Royce Oneal / #3
    Nets acquire Nurkic/Little/Sharpe/ #23

    Blazers lineup is;

    Dame
    Brown
    Bridges
    Grant
    Claxton

I hate the idea of trading away the future of Sharpe - #3 - Ant - #23 in that order but this is the strongest starting lineup to win for next season I've seen.

We need to find a way to get either Claxton or Lopez this summer.

I would love those guys but we need a great point of attack defender more than a rim protector. Nurk is a fine rim protector himself still. We need Caruso more than any other guys on that list

Lopez would kind of be incredible if Dame gets him here. Especially if we got Amen Thompson.

    Dame/Ant/Amen/Mays
    Ant/Sharpe/Thybulle
    ____/Amen/Thybulle/Nas
    Grant/Watford/Walker
    Lopez/Nurk/Watford

Nurk, Nas, #23 would all be available to find a bridge starting SF (DFS?). If we found a way to get Naz Reid too? I think we would contend for HCA.

I don't think Nurkic is that "fine" a rim protector, at least not anymore

according to NBA.com, this season's big's ranked by opponent FG% within 6' of rim (with differential between their own FG% and opponent; more negative the better):

    Giannis 48.0% (-16.7)
    Jaren Jackson 51.2% (-12.8)
    Kessler 51.5% (-13.1)
    Brooke Lopez 51.7% (-13.2)
    Markkanen 52.0% (-12.1)
    Draymond Green 52.4% (-11.8)

    Steven Adams 52.5% (-11.8)
    Porzingis 53.5% (-11.0)
    Zubac 54.2% (-11.0)
    Daniel Gafford 55.0% (-10.1)
    Jarett Allen 55.5% (-8.6)
    Christian Wood 55.7% (-7.4)
    Claxton 56.1% (-8.0)

    Gobert 56.8% (-7.6)
    Mitchell Robinson 57.4% (-7.0)
    Mobley 57.5% (-6.3)
    Zach Collins 57.5% (-7.2)
    Nick Richards 57.9% (-7.8)
    KAT 58.4% (-4.4)
    Myles Turner 58.5% (-6.5)
    Horford 58.6% (-5.5)
    Capela 58.9% (-6.0)
    Drew Eubanks 59.0% (-5.1)
    AD 59.0% (-6.5)
    Duren 59.0% (-6.0)
    Wendall Carter Jr 59.9% (-4.1)
    Jerami Grant 60.1% (-3.7)

    Kevon Looney 60.5% (-3.8)
    Poeltl 60.6% (-3.8)
    Olynyk 60.6% (-3.6)
    Nurkic 61.6% (-3.7)
    Sabonis 61.7% (-3.4)
    Ayton 61.7% (-2.7)
    Embiid 63.2% (-1.4)
    Jokic 65.2% (+0.5)
    Adebayo 67.0% (+1.6)

like a lot of areas with Nurkic, he doesn't compare that well with his peers.

and if you look at who is 5th on that list, then look at this keeping in mind this is what the Bulls traded Markkanen for in a 3-team trade with the Cavs/Blazers:

    upload_2023-6-11_12-33-47.png

    FUCK!!

the damage that dumbass dipshit Olshey did to Portland in just the missed opportunities alone is insane. Blazers could have a front line of Adebayo. Markkanen, and Grant. or Jarrett Allen-Markannen-John Collins or Allen-Markkanen-OG. I still can't believe he was Portland's GM for a decade

yeah, I was whining about it in a post above, but just isolate the 2017 draft & the Nance trade:

    upload_2023-6-11_12-45-32.png

    Adebayo-Markkanen-Grant

    or

    Jarret Allen-Markkanen-John Collins

    or

    Allen-Markkanen-OG-Dillon Brooks

I know it's probably too long a time between the 2017 draft and 2021 for all the options to remain the same, but an era of an NBA team can be defined by missed opportunities and Olshey was a King-of-Whiffs
