Where did I say nothing? If you let them walk at the end of the year you'll get nothing.

Like Aldridge. Letting that happen is why we are in this mess.

You said to trade them so "they don't fuck up our draft pick". Well, at least CJ. What would you want to trade CJ for then?

If we trade them for players that would help us, that will fuck up our tank position. If we trade them so we can tank, then those players would be worse than letting guys walk.

Are you suggesting we trade them for future draft picks then?

I believe ROCO and Nurk are expiring contracts and are players that could help certain teams. We would be able to get value back.

Trade CJ for a better fit. Like the Warriors did for Bogut.

Sure, that's fine. Wouldn't you want to maximize value? Play CJ iso ball for the rest of the year, that should help the tank AND raise his trade value in the offseason.

There's no rush to trade CJ if we are sitting Dame. We are afforded the luxury of waiting it out a bit.

a team like NYK or SAC, or hell even the Pels will overpay for CJ in the summer after flaming out. I don't see a big market for CJ right now, especially given his building injury list.

As long as we tank. If we do that by moving Nurkic and Roco for assets instead of them potentially walking. I'm fine holding him until the offseason.

Last 40 years, 16 of 30 teams, have won a championship.

Go for the old Tim Duncan/David Robinson situation.

how about the jermaine/reggie miller led pacers? were it not for the brawl, they might have had at least one finals run.

ya, they didn't draft Jermaine, but the premise is the same.

However, this is the obvious comp. ya not easy to replicate, but possible. 11-13 yr age difference between CP and Booker/Ayton, respectively. Around what Dame/Banchero would be.

I'm wondering if we should take advantage of how shitty the Lakers are and take Russ for CJ and one of Roco, Nance, or Turk? Yeah, I hate having Russ on paper, but we'd be far more entertaining for the rest of the year, he's a huge expiring deal next year, and I'm wondering if we could fleece the Lakers out of draft picks the next several years.

Dame and Russ are friends, Dame, Simons, and Powell are great players with Russ (as far as giving him space), we would have a competent fast-break, and Scottie Brooks knows how to deal with the Brodie personality.

If we got 3 or 4 picks (2 picks and some swaps) we could probably make some good trades and go for broke in the offseason.

The other thing I'd be down for (if Boston is interested in Russ) is CJ and Horford to LAL, Smart and a bunch of Lakers filler to PDX (Ariza, Jordan, Bazemore - we could cut their asses), and Russ to Boston. Not sure if Boston thinks that would work at all, but I like the thought of Smart complementing Dame and Simons. We could try to ship Powell and a pick for Jerami Grant as well perhaps.

    Lillard/Simons
    Smart/Simons
    Little/Roco
    Grant/Nance
    Nurkic/Zeller

Woj said today on SC after the surgery announcement that the plan is still to build around Lillard and that they’re active in trade talks.

Am pretty Lakers have already sold off their future picks that were available to trade - they have very little outside of AD and Lebron and no f'n way should we trade for Westbrook

They still have their 2025 picks on. Given Lebron's age, they might be terrible at that point.

Hah, happy I made this before Ant broke out and Dame opted for surgery .

I think we're mostly following my plan in the grand scheme of things but there was no reason to dump Norm if this CJ trade was on the table. Unless we do something with that TPE or Bledsoe before Thursday, we coulda just done of the trades. Instead, we are taking an absolute beating to our list of assets while losing leverage in negotiations.
