Not sure who Id cut, but I think come playoff time, we will need another guy who can just flat out get his when things go sideways.
Harrell is killing it this yr and a 6 mil per for this yr and next is a bargain, gonna need a LOT to get him, move on
He's a pretty decent volume 3pt shooter and has been a target of defenses for a while. If he's taking those open 3's that Aminu's taking right now...wow. Don't get me wrong...if Chief can keep hitting wide-open 3s at a 34% clip I'm ok with it. Not awesome, not horrible. But that's a little bit like saying Dame only shoots 38%, which isn't that much better than Aminu. It's one thing to do it with a constant defensive presence on you (though Ross isn't doubled nearly as much as Dame), and another when you're getting wide-open looks.
Aminu gets the most wide-open '3's in the NBA. 34% while not bad, is not very good for the types of shots he gets. If Brook Lopez can go from Brick City to how he shoots now, Aminu should be better.
Any chance we could screw the Celtics out of some of players or picks (which they have a lot of) right now. Their fans are near apocalyptic given that they "had a window of opportunity." And it appears shut right now. Maybe Ainge is feeling hot under the collar?
Otto Porter is the one guy that may be attainable. The Wizards are a complete mess. He's also the one guy that could vault this team out of purgatory. A career 40 3pt% shooter with a skillset that would thrive in this system.
He’d also cost a lot, despite his contract. I mean if we could get him for a Harkless/Leonard/pick package, great. I doubt it though. Oubre is more attainable imo. We could take him on without having to send any money back (wizards are in the luxury tax) and I think our pick might be enough, especially since he’s going to need to be paid next summer. Look what we got Plumlee for from Brooklyn. Oubre is in the same tier.
Oubre is playing really well despite the Wizards problems. He's on the brink of breaking out. I'd love to get him for peanuts.
Harrell at PF with Collins at C, ET running the point, shooters on the outside, Harrell wreaking havoc at the trim. Yeah, I could get used to that.
He’s playing ok. He’s more flash than actual production. His PER would rank him 9th on Portland. If you look at his numbers, he’s only a slight upgrade over Layman, if not a wash. We’d pretty much be banking on getting more out of him. Almost like a draft pick. A late first seems completely fair imo.
Weird. Everytime I was checking the box scores he was doing well. I guess he wasn't doing as well as I had thought. Give Layman some credit. He's doing a pretty damn good job. I'd like to see a bit more aggression offensively from him though. He's playing well though.
We need to find a way to re-sign Layman. The minimum, under the table, in strip club tokens.... I don't give a shit.
What I want to see is Stotts giving him more freedom, and/or more minutes. I think he’s earned a chance. Then we can have a better sample to judge.
I like Porter Jr as well but that contract is a lot to take on. Harkless/Leonard works and not that Meyers is great, but he has been playing a better and it would leave the Blazers very thin from a big-man stand point.
Otto Porter is the most successful of the Brooklyn mega-contracts that were doled around the league in 2016, but he still is overpaid for his production and seem to have regressed this year. This year he is giving you a healthy Moe Harkless like production for 2.5 times the cost.
That would open up a roster spot though, so we could sign a big. There is also the Vonleh Trade Exception they could use if someone was available that route. Plus they still have both two-way contracts that they could sign someone with and then just trade off having them spend their 45 days with the team. That could potentially cover a roster hole for 3 months and then they could just sign the better of the two for the rest of the season.
