Green day - Working class hero A

Although I hate Greenday since 99% of their songs sound exactly the same and I think they sound absolutely doo-doo, the song is very good. Great song by Lennon and they did it justice.

I don't think I've seen a NIN post yet, so I guess I'll add one in.

Fuckin' right! Nine Inch Nails are one of my favorite groups. Weird, that I haven't posted anything by them. Anyways, that song is just awesome. I love every single bit of it, and the message lyrically is unrelenting. Trent's a very passionate guy. The whole album is badass, and easily one of my favorites of the year. Other key tracks, and personally my favorites off the new album you guys should check out are; The Great Destroyer, and God Given.

Now for my next recommendation, let's start of with this:

And it was the new music and it was timid, humble and stern. It was brown and light brown and sepia. It was almost forgotten, it lays in a ditch on the side of the road. You and I drove along once and it was happy to lie there day dreaming. It stretched into the distance further than you ever thought possible and it didn't give a **** about you and I either way.

That's from a band called Cog, a hard rock band from Australia, and here's some of their best stuff...

Cog - Doors [Now And Then My Life Feels Like It's Going Nowhere]

It's a link you have to download, but I couldn't find it anywhere online.
    Either way, enjoy!

Wow. I absolutely loved it. 10 minutes long and I never really got the feeling that any part of it was a waste of time. The dude had a nice voice, and it got intense or melodic at all the right times. Is their album worth checking out?

Keeping with Australian bands, I'll post a nice cover:

This is Joe Cocker's rendition of 'Don't let me be misunderstood' and I found it most excellent. I heard this on the movie 'Layer Cake', which is actually a high-quality flick in its own right. The only way I could find it to play for you guys was as the background music for a series of clips from the movie, so if you haven't seen it and don't want it spoiled, don't watch it, just lissen [IMG]

I would have given it a higher grade, but it really doesn't compare to the version recorded by The Animals. Eric Burdon's voice just has a lot more soul in it, at least, in the 60's he did. I've got to give a lot of credit to Cocker for still recording music after all these years. The film did go great with the movie though and was a perfect fit as far as that's concerned.

Good beats in the baackground. Sounded alot like a Jimi Hendrix song. The lyrics are kinda hard to understand cause of his voice. But some were pretty good.

Heard this song the other day really good:

I go back and forth on this one lyrically, but ultimately, I'm a huge fan of the spirit behind the idea of the song but not the actual lyrics that Kiedis chose, especially not the poem at the end. This one, like Slow Cheetah, I think could be a perfect song if the lyrics were better. The song itself is amazing though and really doesn't sound anything else they've done up to date outside of Rolling Sly Stone, which was only released on a rare live album; it's a shame they don't write songs with that feel to them more often. Anyway, it's definitely one of my favorites on the album, along with She's Only 18, Make You Feel Better, and If.

BTW - Go ahead and recommend whatever you want. It kind of defeats the purpose of this thread if you can't recommend songs you think other people should hear.

Its a simple song, but I like it a lot. It's got a mellow vibe and I think it has the best lyrics out of any of the songs on that album.

I've been playing this song a lot lately:

I love the lyrics to this song, really powerful and deep and well said. I know Jimi is known mostly as a guitar legend but his lyrics here are great.

Mind you, on an emo scale, a B from me is the best a band can get. [IMG]

I know this song's from a genre that I hate almost everything about, but it's definitely a guilty pleasure of mine, my favorite emo track. For some reason, this song really caught me in the emotion of it where none of the emo songs I've ever heard have; they've all just sounded like useless whining.

Oh yeah, and the chick in this video is smoking hot.

    New Song:

A classic; true Memphis music right here -

A+ I love this song, reminds me of Sandlot every time [IMG] I actually heard this song so many times yesterday at my baseball game cuz the field we played at has no taste of modern day music. I love the piano and guitar mixture in this song, just makes is so sweet and smooth. I never really knew who played it until I saw this. Great song and is a classic for a reason.

One of my favorite songs of all-time, Gorillaz are sorta like Gym Class Heroes with their rhyming lyrics and rock background music.
