B+ <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "Me from earlier in this thread":</div><div class="quote_post">This new song's from the band Satellite Party who's debut album just hit stores a few days ago. I haven't picked it up, but I've really been meaning to because of all the great artists who contributed on it. Here's the only song I've heard from it so far, featuring never before released vocals from Jim Morrison. It wasn't much to work with, but I think they did an okay job of incorporating this into a song. It's still just exciting to hear Jim's voice on something new.</div> New Song: Invalid Video Link
B As embarrassing as this is to admit, I haven't listened to much of the Beatles. I did like this song. I liked how they slowed it down and then picked it up again for the chorus, and there was lots of colors. Bryan Adams - Summer of '69 Invalid Video Link I'm really digging summer music right now.
F Bryan Adams. j/k - Catchy song, regardless of who it is and what it is. I guess it deserves at least a C. Invalid Video Link
A Easily one of the most calm and serene songs I've heard in a long time. I haven't listened to the Doors in a while, I'm going to pull them out tomorrow. Damien Rice - Coconut Skins Invalid Video Link
A Loving the mellow music right now. I've got my windows open and am listening to the crickets as I'm playing this music... just beautiful. New Song: Invalid Video Link
A Classic song. It's relaxing and thought provoking. Nice to see a span without some Chili's, eh? Marvin Gaye - Got to Give it Up Invalid Video Link Gotta love this song, I think? Everytime this comes on at work I dance.
C This might not make much sense, but I'm coming off a pretty intense trip, and Marvin Gaye wasn't really what I needed now. It's a great song, and he's a great singer, but at the moment I cut this song off pretty much half-way through, because I'm not in the mood, and you really have to be in the mood for a song like that. New Song: John Frusciante - Falling Invalid Video Link
A As in all of Frusc's music, you could really feel the emotion. The instrumental was beautiful and the egg...tattooing? was pretty cool. Damien Rice - Amie Invalid Video Link
A+ I love this song. It's one of the few Damien Rice songs I've got on my playlist, because whenever I put it on, it just makes me feel better. I love music that does that to me, because life can really get to you sometimes, and it's good to be able to be brought back to reality and being happy by a song. New Song: Invalid Video Link
A Great song and I love how he voiced his opinion at the end. Isn't this the song that inspired Readymade on Stadium Arcadium? Red Hot Chili Peppers - Make You Feel Better Invalid Video Link
A+ The vocals on this track, both lead and backing, are the best vocals on Stadium Arcadium. That's one of my biggest criticisms of Stadium Arcadium, that Kiedis' vocals were off and Frusciante didn't sing backing vocals enough. This song's perfect though. The lyrics are still sort of lacking, but it is true, their music, especially this song, definitely makes me feel better. New Song: The White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself This band gets such a bad rep because of how bad their drummer is, but I've always looked at it as a Jack White solo project, with just sort of a drum machine in the background like John Frusciante uses on his solo projects. With that said, Jack White's arguably the best guitar player alive today. He's tremendously underrated. I know Rolling Stone magazine caught a lot of crap for ranking him #17 on the all-time guitarists list, but I personally think he should have been even higher. He's a creative and technical genius when it comes to guitar. Invalid Video Link
B... I like the White Stripes (or should I say Jack White) and I do agree that they get tons of crap for having such a terrible drummer. That particular song is just alright IMO but the video is very nice . Sublime- Seed Invalid Video Link Hard to choose one Sublime song but this is one of my favorites. If you like it also check out Badfish, Santeria, Don't Push, Get Out, Boss DJ, Roots of Creation (and everything else they recorded).
A+ I love Sublime songs with the frenzied tempos that have a mellow break down. This song wasn't a huge commercial success, but it's always been one of my three or four favorites off of the self-titled. R.I.P. Brad Nowell. New Song: Scott McKenzie - San Francisco Invalid Video Link
Scott McKenzie - San Francisco - A I love this song, you'd be surprised how often this is played on the radio here in France everyday when I'm driving around with people. Doesn't get boring for me though. I enjoy the vocals especially the way he sings "San Fran-cisco." With that little stretch in the tone of his voice. Relaxing tune to just drive around wherever, whenever. Thanks bro. New song is from Mika - Grace Kelly Invalid Video Link Definitely not one of my favorite artists, but this song is fun and I wanted to post a video. Reminds me of this one you posted a while, but I forget the name at the moment. I like the vocals, not because they're amazing or anything, but they sure as hell aren't easy to sing right and the song is just fun in general. A good one to blast in your car once in a great while.
Mika - Grace Kelly B+ I'm not usually into that kind of stuff but I really like this song for some reason. Although I could do without that guy's red pajamas. Since you guys aren't down with the emo, i'll post my favorite Sinatra track... My Way Invalid Video Link
D Everyone always talks about what a great singer Sinatra is, and I'm not someone who knows the technical aspects of singing, but I just know that I don't like his voice, nor do I like pop standards in general. I know he's considered possibly the greatest singer ever, but it's painful for me to get through one of his songs personally. New Song: The Doors - Unhappy Girl Kinda a stupid video, but that's YouTube for ya. Invalid Video Link
C... I don't like the Doors in general, that song is decent though. Primus- Too Many Puppies Invalid Video Link
Don't like the Doors? Anyway... Primus - A+ I love Primus but haven't rec'ed them in a while because no one else in this thread seemed to dig them. It's great to see someone else into them though. Claypool is a god when it comes to the bass. My brother's always playing this song in particular. He loves to play Primus stuff. He's sort of a novice on the bass, but he really puts in a lot of time on some of these Claypool songs and gets them down. So that's what I'm always reminded of when I hear this song. New Song: Run BJM's favorite band, the Doors, with "The Crystal Ship." Invalid Video Link
The Doors - Crystal Ship - B Not my favorite Doors song, but you can't really not enjoy any of their music because they're all so easy on the ears. I like the video with the paintings too. Next song is from Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody Invalid Video Link One of the greatest bands, ever. No further explaination on this song.
