    A+ Great song

Woah Nitrous?? I didn't even know you could trip on that. Like what is it in drug form? I've only seen it at dragstrips in peoples cars and ****. lol I'm a drug noob

Yeah, it's different than the automotive nitrous though, in that automotive nitrous isn't pure. What they use is 10% sulphuric compounds, which will poison you if you inhale enough of it. For that reason, most people do the nitrous that you buy at headshops (because it's pure), and if they don't buy a canister for it, they'll use it out of balloons. That's how most people do it at concerts, where it's the most common.

I don't condone it, because it's incredibly dangerous. Out of all the drugs out there, it's one of the most unassuming. You never hear about it, and it makes you feel so euphoric while you're on it, that you don't worry about testing your limits, and that makes you prone to brain damage or death. I know a lot of people who have died or been seriously injured by nitrous, three from lack of oxygen and two from trying to drive on it, like one of my friends from high school, D'Bo. I even got in a crash while on it myself (although it was just a fender bender), and worse, I think I have permanent brain damage from it. It's not a safe drug, not in the least. However, with that said, when you combine it with certain drugs (which I won't list for self incrimination reasons), it can be amazingly euphoric. Combinations will take the thirty second trip that nitrous would have given you straight up and elongates it, while making it more intense. Everything in the world seems perfect, you hallucinate, you hear sounds differently, and you feel happier and more fulfilled than ever in your life. Then, a few minutes later (or a few hours later depending on what else you took), you come down, and it's a harsh come down that leads most people to keep doing more and more.

That's why I don't recommend trying it, even once. I know you'll be offered it too, with the way you love music. The first time I tried it was at a show, and almost every show I've been to since, there's usually people doing nitrous. The health risks and addiction potential are too high for me to suggest using it though. I wish I had never touched it, personally.

I was on YouTube, and did a search for it. Here's a video of some tools doing it through balloons: http://youtube.com/watch?v=79Ro3pBMsdA (most people I know usually do it out of a cannister when they're just doing it recreationally though).

The whole reason I brought it up was that I always thought "Today" went well with it, and when the video came on the other day, all my friends agreed with me. I know it's not really about that, but it still fits well. Look at the lyrics:

    Today is the greatest
    Day I've ever kown
    Can't live for tomorrow
    Tomorrow’s much too long
    I burn my eyes out
    Before I get out

    I wanted more
    Than life could ever grant
    Bored by the chore
    Of saving face

That's how I've always seen a nitrous high - a euphoric peak in your life that can never be reached again. When you're in the moment though, all you want to do is live in that moment and try to ride it out as long as possible. After that experience, you become jaded and the simple highs in life don't hit yo uthe way they used to. You're 'bored by the chore of saving face.'

I know that may seem like a stretch, but the video went well with it too, with the carefree attitude Corgan had in it along with the fuzzy/colorful way in which it was shot.

    Hiphopopotamus vs. Rhymenoceros - D

Not that it wasn't funny, because there were a lot of clever lines, but I just hate most mixes of humor and music. Music effects me on a deep, almost spiritual level, and comedy effects me on a more shallow level. I'm having trouble finding the right words to describe what I mean, but it's sort of like mixing sex with food. They're both great in their own right, but they're both diminished when you try to mix them.

    New Song:

Speaking of great things that don't go together, this video doesn't go with the song at all, at least in my mind. It's a bunch of fight videos, which are cool in their own right, but I personally just put this on in the background and listen to the music. It was the only version of it on YouTube. This is actually a serious song though, and Mayfield was a serious musician, to say the least. He influenced most of the great classic rock artists of the late 60's/early 70's and was Jimi Hendrix's favorite musician from the time he was a kid until his own death. There's a lot of similarities in Curtis Mayfield's early works and the work Hendrix did with the Hendrix Experience.

I've always liked Bloc Party, and if you liked this song you should really check out their first album "Silent Alarm". Not that there second album sucks or anything, it's just always hard to beat the original. Words are kinda hard to understand if your new to British music, but their lyrics are usually just wonderful.

    The Prayer - B-

I usually see these guys as being on the side of indie rock that leans towards emo, sort of like the later works of the Killers and Franz Ferdinand. I downloaded "Banquet" when it came out a year or two ago, but then everything else I heard from that afterwards was complete emo trash. I like this song though. The guitar work was simplistic and redundant, but the drumming was excellent.

EDIT: I just looked them up on wikipedia to see what genre they're being classified under these days, and apparently they're post-punk revival, the new term being used to classify emo bands that don't want the emo image. Oh well, I like this song at least.

Haha, that's cool, but just make informed decisions about drugs. There's so much bullshit propaganda out there that it makes everyone want to rebel and experience drugs for themselves, but the truth is, even if the government exaggerates, there are really a lot of serious consequences that come with abuse of certain drugs, and a lot of kids who think they're invincible completely ignore those consequences to just live in the moment and wind up with serious long-term health problems. The more you know about drugs in general, the more you'll know what to stay away from and what to not do in excess.

Anyway, I don't want to make another long, rambling post, so here's a new song -

    Mountain - Nantucket Sleighride

    Invalid Video Link

I've been looking for a YouTube version of this song for the longest time and just now found one. These guys are without a doubt the most underrated musicians to come out of the psychedelic era. This song is an epic, but there's no video to go along with it, so I'd just listen to it in the background like with that last Curtis Mayfield video. It's really poor audio quality too, so keep that in mind. The flutes sound a lot better on the studio album.

I almost posted a Doors song, but i figured I'd let all the people out there know that "The Walrus" isn't a nickname for my old wrinkley fat ass with a moustache. I'm actually a 17 skinny white boy who used the name as a Beatles reference. [IMG] All Though I'm sure some people like Voodoo Chile' were already aware of that. lol

The guy's voice got a little annoying thus the B.

I just found out about these guys, they're called Lightning Bolt and they're an experimental duo that consists of just a bassist, and a nearly deaf drummer. It's some of the most intense and exciting music I've ever listened to.

I really think if Tom was more recognizable by the casual person, he'd be a great anti-political spokesman. From things like these and his R.A.T.M stunts. It's just that he's not that well known on an individual platform, imo. To bad, either way though he's a great musician.

I believe Sasha posted this some pages back. I'm not fond of his voice and all of their messages. His solo stuff is ok, some of Audioslaves' stuff is ok, and I love Rage. I do agree, he's a great musician. He looks like a douche when he plays the guitar, but that man is better at making hip hop sounds with his guitar than most DJ's are.

This is their new single of their new cd Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace which drops next month. I don't think they're too popular on the boards as they aren't overall that talented, but I love their music and I'm hyped for their next record. Should be great if you're a fan!

They've gone off the deep end I think. My buddy is really into them, and because of it I've listened to everything they've done. I only like their first album, because it's so different and nothing like the mainstream, pop stuff they have out now.

Here's my contribution, it's a song by a French band that kind of sounds like Mogwai. Some of you may dig it. You gotta download it though...

    Ben Harper - A

Link's not working, but saw Ben Harper at Voodoo and he stole the show --- definitely one of the better live acts around today. He did an amazing cover of Voodoo Child on the pedal steel actually. His live shows seem to have a lot more life in them than his studio albums.
