If Yanks and Sox include Hughes or Ellsbury, they will not part with Kennedy or Lester. So, it will come down to which total package they like, and one they prefer. I heard it was Ellsbury. We'll see.

I don't see how we're unwilling to give up Lesterbut seemingly willing to give up Ellsbury. It's insanity. With that being said, Jacoby > Cabrera everyday and twice on Sunday.

Lester has nothing to convince he that's much of anything. Trade him while we can.

That's the truth. Melky is overrated. He's an average center fielder. Nothing more. He'd be a great left fielder (which will be what he is, when Austin Jackson and Jose Tabata come up). Ellsbury will be special.

That being said, I'd much rather give him up than Clay. Much much much much. Ellsbury would have to be 8/5 the player Buch is.

They're not unwilling to give up Lester. He was in the initial offer. Twins and Sox talked and they said they would adjust the deal with Ellsbury. They don't wanna give up him and Ellsbury in any deal though.

According to Rotoworld, the Sawx are looking at Erik Bedard of Baltimore fame. He had a nice year last year (13-5, 3.16 ERA) but has been nothing special over his career. Granted, he has a sub 3.40 career ERA, he's not Johan.

    Bedard's career ERA is 3.83. Beckett's is 3.74.

He's far from being Beckett, but he's still pretty damn good.

Ah, I must have mixed up the 3.83. Thanks for pointing that out.

And while I don't see the O's trading within their division, who do you think we'd have to give up? Lester + Lowrie?

Just give the Twins what they want... Beckett Santana and Matsuzaka will win this division pretty much every year till i'm out of college, and we can find a lot more good young players, we have a hell of a scouting staff

Yah, but when we turn into the Padres and can't hit to save our lives we'll be missing the best CF in the game. Papi can only play for so long at his pace and Manny is ending the finish of his career.

Best CF in the game? Where are you getting this assumption?

Well he's talking 5 or so years down the road... I think its a possibility. Ellsbury's got some serious potential.

Best leadoff hitter is a distinct possibility. At some point, they'll have to use the Manny money to get another huge bat to go with Ortiz. If you keep Ellsbury, he and Pedroia will be first and second for years and years to come. I'll give up Lester, Crisp, and any of the other variety of prospects except for Bucholz for Santana, Haren, or Bedard. I'd give up significantly more for Santana than the other two.

As for the O's trading in division, its not like they're planning on being competitive with the Sox anytime soon. They'd do it.

I just don't want Erik Bedard as a plan B. Santana, then Haren, then Blanton, then Bedard for me.

Blaton over Bedard? I'm not sure about that one. Blaton looks like a fourth starter for the Sox with Beckett, Matsuzaka, and Schilling. Bedard could go two or three.

I'm not sure I'd give up Lester for Blanton.

Ellsbury was easily a top 5 CF in the games he played last year. Don't deny it.

    Homerism? What's that?
