<div class="quote_poster">Schaddy Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">That's the Duke backlash, and he's always had that ability to get under people's skin. As long as the Magic use him correctly, letting him catch and shoot off screens and allowing him space so he doesn't have to drive much, he's going to be a productive player. He'll add a dimension of deep shooting to the Magic. He'll probably never be much more than a marginal starter or 6th man, but he won't be awful. Guys who shoot that well don't just fall on their face.</div>

Exactly. Duke's system works because they have the right components that most nba teams don't have. Teamwork. Plus, face it, NBA has much quicker, stronger type players so it is harder to score and defend.

But being undersized and extremely slow might not affect his play if he can just flat out shoot with a hand in his face. It's like with Morrison. Give the guy some daylight and he might score the high% shot over some athletic guy who is defending him extremely well.

The problem with today's league is that few guys can actually shoot well. If more guys like Morrison and JJ were quicker, there wouldn't be an argument over their effectiveness on defense or creating their own shot.

If a slow shooter has inside presence, and guys who play like a team, there's a good chance that shooter can be extremely effective. I mean why is it we get 3rd place in the international game? It's because less and less these days do we put guys out there who can actually shoot the ball. There's no Birds, Mullins, Ray Allens, Reggie Millers heck not even Eric Price.

Maybe we should have sent Michael Redd, kept Morrison in there, and
maybe thrown in Wallyworld or Kyle Korver for some balance on the USA team. I mean who in the nba can be a good shooter without dominating or overdribbling the ball to be effective? I think those guys, who can hog the ball sometimes, can operate as a catch and shoot type player or dribble in to shoot off the dribble.

Hopefully Reddick brings balance to Orlando's outside shooting ability, but won't be limited to a Pat Garrity role.

    I am...oh wait, I haven't posted here yet...I'll just go......

I can't see someone like JJ not doing anything. He's good, and understands the game. He's savvy, confident, and incredibly talented on offense. I hate duke just as much as any non-duke fan [IMG]

But JJ can play basketball, and that's all that matters.
